Gary Patterson breaks silence on lack of Big 12 title game, CFP snub

"I was told why we had a committee was we were going to take all that stuff out of it; I remember talking about the championship games and they shouldn't have mattered," Patterson said. "Their job was to watch all this film and pick the top four teams no matter where you played and what you did. And then, all of a sudden in the end it got down to they played a championship game and we didn't. That's not what we were told. We were told they would pick the four best teams.

Let me spell this out for Patterson. It wasn't because we had a championship game that we made the playoffs. It was because in that championship game we went out and plunger raped Wiscy 59-0 while you had not further statement to make. It allowed us to make the final argument that we were one of the four best teams. Had we lost that game or possibly even played like crap in winning 13-10, then perhaps they would have judged that TCU or Baylor were one of the four best teams. Again, it wasn't that we "played a championship game." It was that we went out and dominated in that game thus proving we were more deserving than the Texas Twosome.

Now go back to godforsaken Texas and compare vaginal itch creams with Briles, you whiny little shit. God I hope that Urban unleashes the fucking fury on these clowns next year.

A K State fan was trying to tell me how TCU got screwed.
M answer. Maybe they should have won their conference Championship game.
Oh! Right. They didn't have one. Dumb-asses.
Besides, we won the National Championship "on the field"!

Every year there'll be a coach bitching that they got screwed out of the playoff. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that more often than not, it will be the coach of the team that finishes #5. Just like when they only took 2 teams, the coach of the #3 team bitched. If they expand it to 8 teams, it will be the coach of the #9 team, etc.

They should all just bitch up and choose positivity, at least IMO opinion. FAX! Evidents!

If you want to make the playoff from a Power 5 conference, win all your games. If you don't win all your games, you take it out of your hands and put it in the committees. Until an undefeated Power 5 team gets left out, I don't have any sympathy. Don't blow a 21 point 4th quarter lead and wouldn't have mattered who had a conference championship game or not.

And neither Briles nor Patterson had ANY problems with us having to go out and play in that championship game with a third string quarterback and every national pundit in the land predicting an easy win for Wiscy. The were all frickin' for it when they thought it would knock us out of the discussion. It was only after we used the championship game to make a statement that we were one of the four best that the butthurt flowed like the salmon back to Capistrano.

The CCG gave us another top-15 opponent to build our resume.
TCU and Baylor's resumes were limited by not having a CCG; but it's a risk-reward game. I suspect most years the Little12 will sneak a team in specifically b/c there's often at least 1 CCG upset.
2014 wasn't that year however.
And I fail to see how they can formulate any argument about who should've been left out instead of them. We won it all while Baylor lost to MSU (hurting both their cases), so good luck arguing that. FSU was easily the worst team, but they were undefeated -- never going to leave an undefeated out imo. That just leaves Alabama and Oregon...

Who would this clown have left out of the playoffs:

1. The defending national champion that won all of its games in 2014 as of the time the playoff teams were selected?
2. The team everyone thought was the best team in the country and that was the champ of the almighty SEC?
3. The team that everyone thought "this is finally their year," was trumpeted as having the most explosive offense in CFB, and had the Heisman winner under center?
4. The team that kicked all of their asses?

Patterson wants to whine about TCU being left out, but only four teams get in, and I haven't seen him make a good case for taking the spot of any of the four teams described above.
