Some people may not realize that the team that does not make the choice at the beginning of the game gets the choice during the second half. We learned this the hard way my freshman year of high school! Two kicks in a row!

wait.....what?

explain this little rule that i never heard of and tell me what happened at your game

There is no doubt... They are much more passionate then they are. They are more like us when it comes to furver...
you should probably be a bit more clear as to who "they" is...

also, just because they (I'm assuming you're talking about Texas fans) have more spunk it doesn't make it any easier for them to get tickets

I think folks are being a bit sloppy in their responses. If you win the toss and defer you are essentially - but not technically - choosing to kick. Hopefully nobody is suggesting we actually say 'we want to kick off' rather than 'we want to defer to the 2nd half'.

I think there will be many more Texas fans than the typical Michigan turnout - even considering that the normal Michigan turnout swells due to locals who suffered brain damage as youth.

This is a once in a lifetime event. This is the most anticipated Texas team in several years of good teams. And I believe there are a lot of tickets available - just check ebay or call one of the ticket brokers. There are always a lot of faculty/staff and, unfortunately, students, who don't mind making a few hundred and watching on tv. Once the fervor started and $1200 a pair started popping up on ebay that number grew substantially.

Michigan is much closer, but the die hards have already been here and Michigan will always be back in two years. And the fervor for college football in the Detroit area is diluted by other sports.

One thing I will say for the Texas fans. They get it when it comes to college football.
