Good news...Musberger really seems to understand the importance of big games and understands the traditions of college football. Listening to him at the Florida State-Miami game tonight it seems like he can't wait to get to Columbus and it seems like he realizes how huge this game is.

tf06: Thanks for the breakdown on your WRs versus ULL. We didn't get your game here in C-bus, so it's nice to get a read on things from more than just box scores and recaps.

I agree that this could be a defensive struggle -- I think that it's very probable that we see a low scoring game, with the winning team under 20 points. Lots of posters have picked scores like 20-17, and I could see it being a 14-10 type of game, even.

Honestly, what I was most enthused about from the Miami game was Josh Huston's performance. Should OSU win this Saturday, he's probably going to be the difference.

I think the Musburger thing has beaten to death...but again, I love the guy (no homo).

He is excitable and really LOVES college football.

I also dig (no homo) Tirico. Very passionate. Gets excited and I like that (no homo). Tirico calls a good game and keeps the t.v. fan interested.

jackson/fouts..... ugh.

you know it really boggles my mind when these guys cant even get the players names right. i'm sure they get paid fairly decent to do what they do and i think it is pathetic they screw small stuff up like that. i recall krenzel being called craig tressel during the 02 championship game by the old dude. i'm relieved to know they won't be calling this week's game.

IMO, Musberger and Danielson are the best announcers that ABC/ESPN can offer. Musberger calling all of Ginn's crazy plays last year made them that much more exciting. The 04 Michigan game was great, especially after talking about the Pistons/Pacers fight Musberger said Ron Artest now had all the time he needs to work on his rap album.

Tirico kept calling Huston "John Huston" Saturday, once even after they flashed the graphic with Josh's name on the screen...fucking moron. At least he didn't call us the "garnet and grey" again.

I was kind of disappointed in Tirico on Saturday. Didn't he do our bowl game last year? If memory serves me, the game was so out of hand he was pretty much just talking and every once in a while he would mention how we were throttling Okie State.

Seriously....you can't compare Taylor to Ginn because it's just not fair. Taylor is better compared to Reggie Bush :slappy:

This is true too, since Taylor is still more of a runningback than a WR, and it is a little tougher to gain big yardage consistently from the backfield. If he does average 15 touches a game as the coaches want and maintains his per touch average from last year he would gain 2730 yards this season. Note that that is still fewer touches than Bush had last year.

I think I write this same post about once a year, so here goes:

1. Musberger is a National Announcer, the preminent voice of college football, and his two favorite teams are Northwestern and the Buckeyes. His bias comes through during our games on regional broadcasts, and there's nothing better (for a Buckeye fan) than that ..

For every other team, you get (from Brent), "Touchdown, Nebraska!" or, "Its a foot race!" But all his calls for the Bucks are tailored for OSU:

"Lets party, Columbus!" or, "Holy Buckeye!" or, "And Coach Snyder's on the sideline saying ... 'Somebody get this big gorilla off our backs!" (referring to Katzenmoyer dominating the '97 Rose Bowl)

He even has a habit of nicknaming our MLB:

"The Big Kat," or "The Kaiser" (Matt Wilhelm)

2. Intros: There is nothing better than a big game, tuning in, and the first thing you hear is Brent going nuts: "On a cold, windy day in Champagne Illinois, the undefeated Buckeyes .." or, "One win away! from a shot! at a National Championship .."

For these reasons, he can do ALL of our games, and I wouldn't complain ..

One thing I've noticed about Texas and their running game is they do alot of misdirection/reading the defense type of stuff instead of just running down hill. I thought this team was more down hill but I watched their high light clips of the La La game and everythign was bounced outside (with exception of the 270 pounder rumbling up the middle late in the 4th). While I think we need to play sound fundamental defense to win this game I honestly believe this plays even more into the OSU defense than I thought it would. They run the same type of stuff K-state did years ago. Now I realize they have Young at QB, but I'm just saying Texas better not just run that stuff to the outside or this game won't be close. Texas IMO needs to run downhill at us if they want a shot to win this ball game.

xrayrandy: "That certainly makes two of us. I would take 125 yards on 15 touches with 1 TD right now if offered, but I do expect us to do somewhat better than that."

Um, hate to break it to you, but that's Ginn's statline for a half and some change in the Okie State game. He was basically given the night off after he scored the TD to make it 30-0 midway through the 3rd Quarter.

You don't want to equate Ginn's production against Okie State with anything you want on Saturday. If that game wasn't a blowout, he could've easily had 200 to 250 all purpose yards with 2 or 3 TDs.

No Benson? No Johnson? Do you know these names in Buckeye Country? You will by Sunday Morning:
Vincent? Selvin? Raymonce? Jamaal? Melton? Quan? Jordan? Harris? Roderick?

Yeah, but Texas fans already know these names: Ginn, Holmes, Hawk, Salley, Carpenter. And that's going to prove to be the difference...
