so lets say that from the first play on we can effectively run the ball and control the clock, you think tressels going to be airing it all over the field? im pretty sure tressel wants to see which running back shows the most so that he knows who to play against texas. obviously we dont see eye to eye, i know that tressel will open it up this year, but if its not necessary why not save it for texas???

We have no real proven running game, yet we have a proven aerial attack. There's little doubt that Tressel comes out throwing from the very first snap to loosen up the defense and set up the run.

Tickets For Sale!!

Alright guys I just got my tickets in the mail and have decided to sell. I will be posting them on EBay on Monday. I am letting everyone here no first so that the real Buckeye fans will have the first crack at them.

I am in Section:7B Row:18 Seats:7-8. I am asking $500 a ticket for these seats which is less than what they are going for at most places I looked. If anybody can get close to this or if you know anybody that can get close send me a private message. These are staff tickets so I will have to upgrade them the week before the game.

Feel free to ask me any questions as well.

Thanks guys and GO BUCKS!

R.W.

His point was if we are able to run, we will continue to do so. No doubt we'll pass too, but if Pittman and co are rolling through their defense with the run, there's no reason to throw the ball very often.

He said, quote: "i think we'll rely heavilly on the running game." That says, to me, that we'll run unless we can't run at all. Obviously, if we can run the ball at 5-6 yards a clip consistently, then we'll run the majority of the time...but, I don't see that happening against their DL.

As for 40 times -- most 40 times are pure BS.

The above is a very entertaining read that contrasts the 40 times claimed in recruiting and booster articles with actual 40, 50 and 60 yard dash times extracted from frame by frame analysis of Ben Jonhson running for his World Record in the 100 Meters -- on a pro-style tartan track, in spikes, from starting blocks.
Ben's 40 time -- 4.38.
Either we have a slew of unheralded World Record pace spinters, or those numbers ain't real.
Sum and substance, those 40 times should be taken with a pinch (and a pretty big one) of salt.
This has been discussed at length in other threads, but a football 40-yard dash and a track 40-yard dash are started in fundamentally different ways. Because of this, the two can't be directly compared, but this doesn't mean that the football 40 is necessarily inaccurate. It just measures something slightly different.

Yeah but if the timing is done by hadn timers there is no way that the measurements can be consistent from player to player.

The bottom line is that all the 40 times posted for Hawk, Young, etc., are inflated (actually, deflated). Still, they at least can be used as a general barometer for speed, and since Young's and Hawk's/D'Andrea's/Carpenter's 40 times are very, very close, it could be said that our LBs won't be left in the dust when going after Young.

im pretty sure that we would know what your 40 times were if they were as good as hawk and companies. we would definantly be hearing about how whoever runs a 4.46 as a linebacker and such,
Mack Brown has a rule that 40 times are not released to the public, they don't even tell they players their times. I like the rule since it avoids all kinds of silly conversations that have nothing to do wth playing the game of football.

not even pro days? i find that hard to believe, although im not saying its not true since i dont know as much on this subject as you texas fans. 40 times can be overrated but its hard to get excited over such a great linebacking core.

"if we can run the ball at 5-6 yards a clip consistently, then we'll run the majority of the time...but, I don't see that happening against their DL"

I keep reading everywhere how good Texas's D-Line and O-Line is. Im slightly suspect about there D-Line when for the most part in the Rose Bowl they didnt pass-rush like crazy on scUM. The game against Oklahoma State Morency ran all over them. Against Oklahoma Adrian Peterson ran all over them too. I know hes real real good but still, does that deserve all the hype?

I know there O-Line is good because they were pretty productive run team with Benson and Young. They got like 2 studs that'll be playing on sundays next year.

My question is why so much hype on there d-line?
