Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

You put up 38 against the worst mobile QB defense in the top-25.

You're dreaming if you are going to put up that many points against us.

Also factor in the fact that we will not score quite as often, unless you kick to Ginn all game and do not bring in a special teams coach ASAP, therfore you will have the ball less.

Texas will be a great team no doubt. But they will not be able to break off huge runs against tOSU's very good run defense. A guy who couldn't start for MSU was even able to have success against them... and their RBs tore off huge 50+ yard runs late in the game when they were in conservative mode.

Nope, I'm really not sure about anything beyond my spring break starting at 3:17 today :)

You suck.. :(

My father has a way of rubbing this in my face as well.

Dad: Hey, I was going to be over at your brothers working this week all day if you want to stop by after work and help out.

Me: Ummmm, yeah Dad. I will be there about dark, when I get off work. Dammit

I can't believe I forgot to mention this.

THE key to the game for tOSU: out-rush UT. That's it.

Under Mack Brown, UT is something like 60-0 (give or take a few wins, I can't remember the exact number) when they have more rushing yards than their opponent. That means we're 10-19 when our opponent outrushes us.

tOSU weakness?

So, we have all discussed the shortcommings of macks ability and the fact that we have to replace ced and dj. As far as i can figure, though, the only weekness that tOSU will have next year(some people on here don't even call this a weekness) is that you have no real proven running game.

Is there any other area of weakness on this buckeyes team, or even just an area that "not quite as good" I know your recieving corp is rediculous and the entire world knows about your defense and tradition especially at linebacker?

Is there any spot on your team that concerns you at all?

Kicking game... only because for the past four years at punter we've had a AA punter, a ray guy winner, and then a 5th year guy who was very solid. And obviously you know some guy named nugent. Things are looking good for Huston to get a medical redshirt for his 6th year, and nugent had tons of praise for the guy throughout the season. He felt the kid would have been all-conference and maybe All-american if he had been at another school. The punting game tho is a bigger questionmark.

We also lack a speed rusher around the end. Our guys are ok, but Fraser is a fairly big loss and even last year we did not have a guy who could dominate the outside like Will Smith. There are a bunch of youngsters waiting to break out, but they still are waiting to do so. Fortunately, Pitcock is an absolute animal and will require double teams... so combine that with blitzes and the DE or blitzer will come free.

And true corner is a weakness. We have tons of experienced safeties in our secondary and will be able to run our zone just fine, but man to man might not be an option if someone doesn't step up. Fox didn't start for 4 years for nothing. Youboty can lock down the other side, but with our only other corner - underwood - with experience sitting out for some team violation, the chances of Ginn seeing reps at corner improve daily. We can argue about how many or when that will be that he takes the field, but it seems inevitable that he'll play some corner. I really think Jamario will break into the two deep, but not by sep 10.

This Kicking game is a big ? right now. I would also say that not having a clear cut starter at QB would only make things worse as well.
I dont know how but i managed to forget about nugent, as for the qb, I thought that ya'll had already decided that it would be Troy Smith, will he still be suspended or is the staff still thinking about zwick?

Great analysis BFS. This is exactally what I was thinking.

Only think we need to make sure that our o-line keeps on playing like they did at the end of last year.
