Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

The DDN has a simulated game made up. here is the link. it is big.
I wont ruin the surprise and tell you who they pick to win.

Just based on the stats and the play-by-play, that seems like a very reasonable simulation. Better than the other one that has us winning the game on a 1-yard fade pass from Smith to Ginn for a TD. If Tressel EVER called that play I'd shit my pants.

I thought it was pretty good too, they even had a ,
well you know but I thought " heck the game could actually go that way".

Hmm must be a bad day, they are doing the pants thing in the NIU thread too hahaha

is anyone here going to be in Austin for the game? There are quite a few parties going on down here for the game.:osu:
Yep, going with a group of 10 buddies. Flying in on Fri. and leaving Sun. Plan on hanging out on 6th St. Friday (I know Stubbs is the HQ for Buckeye fans but we’d rather mingle with the locals – there are some fine looking women in Austin and we're anxious to meet them all). And we’ll probably start out on 6th St. Sat. morning then stumble our way from bar to bar toward the stadium. I’ve heard that Scholz Garten is hoppin’ on game day; is that a good place to hang out right before we head to the game?

This doesn't exactly make sense. McCoy is our starting QB and should remain there going into the second game. If Mack pulls him after five drives (three of them scoring drives) and no major mistakes (no INT's, no sacks) for Snead who is clearly listed as the #2, he would be completely insane. Even if McCoy were to throw a pick early, he would stay in the game. Mack learned his lesson on this twice already, it won't happen again.

Oh yeah, Shipley doesn't drop passes and the play calling on both sides at times seems unrealistic, especially with the score so tight...

:241/10own 1728 - 23221Snead's pass is just out of the reach of Pittman.
7:192/10own 1728 - 23212Snead's pass is just out of the reach of Pittman.
7:153/10own 1728 - 23140Snead overthrows Pittman and the pass is incomplete.
7:104/10own 1728 - 23P2006 Texas Longhorns (TEX) prepares for a punt.
2006 Ohio State Buckeyes (OSU) return it to the OSU 49.

On the depth chart linked above, the only surprise is redshirt freshman Aaron Lewis being listed as backup DT. We all expected him to be a defensive end, his recruited position. I have no idea what to make of that.

Oh, and I'm sure there are only 3 Buckeye fans on this board who care about this, and 2 of them are jwinslow. So for everyone else who doesn't care about UT's backup defensive tackles, nothing to see here.

What would you do if Craig Krenzel threw 36 yards into the endzone on fourth and one?

Shipley is real, he's healthy and he'll play on 9/9.

With the score 14-13 OSU and no mistakes on offense...give the guy some credit. If McCoy is throwing picks left and right, fumbling or gets his head knocked off...different story.

OK - I solved the problem.

There was a line missing from the DDN news site which said McCoy collapsed on the way back to the Tejas locker room at half-time. It was either heat prostration or he slipped on the rain soaked concrete and knocked himself silly. :)
Thus Snead had to make a showing. And, as he was tossing TDs, Mack kept him in there.

You have to be running the BP customized version of FireFox to see that missing line.

Pretty sure we only got 4000 last year but we ended up with 15-20K in the stadium. We were sprinkled all over the place during the game but once all the scarlet & gray filtered out, it was pretty impressive.
Don't know about that 15k-20K number. I felt pretty alone in the B deck. UT got about the same, and part of that went to traveling band? Whatever the case was, after the students and band, and high uppers, there were very few tickets alotted to season ticket holding alumni. However, it looks like I got off cheap with a $270 ticket last year, with some of the outrageous prices this year.

Yeah, great place. Crowded, but good.
