Way sweet revenge tonight! Looks like I won an Ohio State sweatshirt on a bet! Same one I lost last year & had to buy a Texas Sweatshirt for my neighbor! Pay up!
Funny that living here in S.W. Pa just 30 minutes out of Pittsburgh, full of Pitt & Penn State people(barf) & how everyone gets on my case about my Buckeyes, that about less than 5 minutes after the game was over I hear all kinds of car doors closing & people leaving,hmmmm..... they must have been watching our team mess with Texas! Probably hoping they would lose, sorry not tonight it was the Buckeye's night to shine!

:osu: Congrats to the Bucks! :osu:

Just to recap things, overall we looked pretty good, and I'm very happy with the win.

  • Smith looked sharp
  • Gonzalez WAS perhaps the most underrated player in college football... not anymore
  • The pass defense is the heart of our defense, and I can't remember a pass defense so solid under Tressel
  • The rushing defense and tackling HAVE TO step up; it's early in the season, and there's plenty of time for improvement. However, with such a tough schedule, we can't progress slowly
  • The kicking needs to step up, too; I'm VERY unimpressed with the kicking game (one of the areas where we've always been solid at, under Tressel
  • It was a great win by the team, and Texas' 12 straight games of 40 or more points, ended in a very lovely way
  • Lastly, let's get ready for Cincinnati, next week
By the way, isn't Troy 35/55 on the year?

Agreeing with some earlier comments...

Texas was craving up our defense running the ball in the first half. It seemed like they could've ran the ball every down and picked up 4-5 yards. Also, McCoy threw the ball more than 10 yards, maybe twice? Uhh that's not going to cut it. They really seemed to just be out of ideas how to move the ball by the second half. Definitely outcoached.

Notes:
1. Glad to see Jamaal Charles kick his Heisman campaign into high gear.

2. Glad to see that the Texas back-up DBs are all-american candidates.

3. Troy Smith didn't play any better than last year, in fact why didn't they pull him in the 2nd quarter for Justin Zwick.

4. I'm also glad to see Ted Ginn manage to match last years out put. Geez.

OU barely beat UAB and was tied with "3 wins in 2 years" Washington for over 2 quarters.
I know, but Mack needs to prove he won't get owned by them before I say it's a W.

Texas showed me nothing tonight to tell me they are a good football team.

OSU out everything themed for the entire game.

My take on bad calls, just to do it: (and I apologize if this is redundant)

1. They didn't matter.
2. The personal foul, helmet-on-helmet call was bunk. What, never tackle high? Regardless, I think this play may have gained tOSU 3 points, and even the game. Had Texas only scored a field goal, with more time I could have seen Tressel playing a bit more conservatively on the next drive, not wanting Texas to have one of their own, and punting after a missed 3rd and whatever to end the half up 7-3. As it turned out, we needed the momentum and a statement to instead drive over the top and end up 14-7 with great tempo. Who knows, this bad call might have, strangely, gone our way.

3. I don't think Pittman broke the plane for the last TD. Too bad that a player of Brown's convinced him to blow his challenge. With a 3rd and inches, however, and also given the final score, I don't think this affected the game, and we in all possibilities most likely would have had a Smith QB sneak TD anyway.

Great game. No calls blew it, but I wanted to settle my views now. :)

O-H!
