Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Selvin Young didnt even average 4 yards a carry against the vaunted UNT rush defense. Charles averaged a somewhat impressive 5.5 yards a carry, but comparing the UNT rush defense to the OSU rush defense is foolish, even though they didnt have a great showing based on Saturday.

If one of their lines is over rated, I think it's the O line.
They look slow. Road grader types.
But, our O line looked lumbering, Saturday. Maybe it's just the speed of the skill players.

Maybe we take a hit so the team can learn what it takes to compete at the highest levels of college football.
Lose a battle to win a war.

This is how I felt when Beanie fumbled the ball. Yeah it was miserable.....but the kid needed that to happen to get better. Same with Maurice Wells (although he picked the wrong game to do it).

I can't wait until next week. Is it really September?

I think we're on the same wavelength, Josh.
It's just a difference in language.
Same idea.
Tress really, really like to teach and loves it when there are lessons to be learned.

What does this mean for next week?
Maybe we take a hit so the team can learn what it takes to compete at the highest levels of college football.
Lose a battle to win a war.

Yeah, Tress is gonna throw the game and start getting ready for next year to teach the team a lesson. Sorry Troy.

Randy, you are an idiot. Are we sure Randy isn't someone from BWI disguised as a Horn fan? Seriously, someone needs to check into this. I truly hope Xray is only one more ignorant ass comment from getting banned, but I seriously doubt that's the case.

Edit: Let's not get too personal--21

After watching the games this weekend I have come to one conclusion about this game:
It's going to be awesome (think Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, and you'll get my inflection)

The game last year was the best of the season, Notre Ame and the USCondoms can suck an egg. For the drama factor I actually wish Vince were playing....but for the final score I'm glad he isn't. I'm truly confident in a tOSU victory, but mostly I'm looking forward to a great football game.

Thanks to all intelligent Texas fans who have been posting and will hopefully continue to do so. Randy, I'm looking forward to your anal-ysis after the game, I'm sure you'll tell us the statistical anomaly that cost Texas the win (or the statistical reasons why they did win).
To all Buckeye fans travelling to Austin, behave and have a great time. I think they usually execute people in Texas for public urination, so make sure you find a toilet.
:oh: :io:

There is senior leadership on defense and there will be no panic.
Have heard that the field Saturday was very slippery. That didn't help the young guys. Reaction times were ugly.
No excuses next Saturday.

We have "issues" at safety.
Does Mitchell start next week? He led in tackles. He also led in MISSED tackles.
Did A. Russell miss any? I didn't see any.
Patterson, the other safety, admitted he was in awe of the crowd.
I didn't see (watched the game again) him do much.
But, maybe he was coached to stay deep to cover mistakes?
O'Neil is just not ready.

Showdown In Texas

I think Texas is going to find out exactly what they escaped last year when WE the Buckeyes beat ourselves.. They DID NOT beat us theirselves.. We were the best players on their team. My only regret is that Young won't be there to get his taste of it. GO BUCKS!!!
