Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

tOSU. Troy Smith- QB, A. Pittman-JR RB, Stan White- SR RB, A. Gonzalez- JR WR, Roy Hall-SR WR, T. Ginn- JR WR, T.J. Downing-SR OL, Doug Datish-SR OL, John Kerr- SR LB, Quinn Pitcock- SR DL, David Patterson- SR DL, Jay Richardson- SR DE.

This is way too generous. I think the only locks to get drafted next year (I'm excluding Pittman and Gonzalez b/c I don't think they'll leave early) are

Ginn
Smith
Pitcock
Downing
Richardson

I forgot to include Limas Sweed because I had him listed off to the side as a definite. Bobino may be a stretch, but you can never tell now day's, especially if tOSU or UT win's a MNC, sometimes young players think they know better than the scout's and it takes being disappointed in the draft to prove otherwise.

No offense but Bobino is beyond stretch...he is a no freaking way....He is a solid D1 LB but does not possess the size, speed and presumably strength to be taken as an underclassmen. That, coupled with macks history of keeping players, and Bobino is staying, 100% led pipe lock, mark it down.

If he is going to make the league some day, he is going to have to do it as the next sam mills, Dat Ngyen, or Zach Thomas....all great LB's but people had their doubts

A Talent Rich Series

I think a more intriguing measure of the height of the competition, in this home and away series, may be to look back at the number of players drafted from both teams - who played in either the '05 or '06 games. For that we may have to wait till April 2010. (Or possibly 2011 if a 'Horn or Buckeye player later on is granted a medical redshirt).

Right now its Buckeyes 9, 'Horns 6, but UTMNC may be right in suggesting that more Texas Seniors (and eager to earn Juniors) might get drafted next year than Buckeyes. Should Ginn declare then 5+ becomes damned near a lock. campies and High Lonesome seem to be performing echo with each whittling away at your list, still leaving up to ten+ Texas playeres as possible draft picks. (Which is similar to the eleven we had on the NFL's tracker last year).

No way Pittman or Gonzo declare. And although most here say emphatically that Ginn bails, I'm not so sure about that. As for seniors, the only sure-fire draft picks are Smith and Pitcock. Downing and Datish are fairly safe bets to also be drafted. Patterson, Richardson, and Kerr are maybes. I doubt White and Hall will get drafted.

I agree. Hall has his exceptional size going for him no doubt, and seems to have decent hands, but he'll have to show something this year. I think he is capable, but we'll have to see if he gets the opportunities (and takes advantage of those opportunities) that he needs to impress the NFL'ers...

I certainly don't think it will be a low scoring game, just that tOSU will not break 22 points without having more than the 3 turnovers they had last year.

You continuously repeat this statistic and notion, but you HAVE to have realized/noticed that JT was absolutely settling for FG's last year. If you couldn't see that from some of his playcalling (whether I agree with it or not is a moot point) inside the 30. No way without Huston do we play like that again...especially with our younger and less-experienced D. I think he understands that in Austin, we're going to need to score TD's, not FG's.

I just have one question. What does this thread have to do with Notre Dame?
If either team was coached by Weis than there is no way they would lose and there would be no need to even discuss the game. But alas, not everyone can have an offensive genius with a whole summer to prepare the unstoppable offensive juggernaut that is Notre Ame. So we must settle with discussing who might win games, rather than knowing who will win ala Notre Ame.

Imagine the intensity of this thread between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9 in anticipation of the BIG game, as both UT and tOSU declare early season supremacy, backed by the evidence of the dismantling of each teams game 1 opponent.

If I rember right, the week leading up to the game tossed all rational thought out the window and replaced it with blind homer predictions and wild ass claims.....it was a lot of fun
