Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Curious, why was Tennessee a better program at that time? They weren't coming off of a National Championship, but I do think that they ended ranked in the top 15. Also, maybe unlike Peyton, Snead or Colt have the quality that escapes Peyton....wining the big game :wink2:

Texas:
1986 5-6, 1987 7-5, 1988 4-7, 1989 5-6, 1990 9-2, 1991 5-6, 1992 6-5, 1993 5-5-1, 1994 8-4

Tenn:

1986 7-5, 1987 10-2-1, 1988 5-6, 1989 11-1. 1990 9-2-2, 1991 9-3, 1992 9-3, 1993 10-2, 1994 8-4

Its very, very clear who was better in the mid 1980's through the early 1990's, hence my statement

Not to speak for Texasfight06, but I (mis)read it as you saying Tennessee had a better program at that time than Texas has at this time.

The Horseshoe West.
nice of them to build a second one for us, in case a bcs berth isn't enough. Heck, even the trees surrounding the building are scarlet.

This is a sweet closeup pic of the stadium... it would be cool if they repainted the top for the bowl game (one per team).

exactly....there was even talk in spring and summer of 2002 that Zwick would beat out Krenzel for the starting job as a true freshman. You saw how that ended up.

In fact, the big chant from Ohio State fans was "Justin Zwick, just in time". You would have thought it was a done deal but Mr Krenzel had a different idea!

While looking through the nearly 2,000 post on this thread, I think I remember seeing the statement that A. Gonzalez is FASTER than T. Ginn., I just wondered if that was in pads, or what. Faster than Ginn seems to border on inhuman.

I believe that was in reference to the 40 yard dash Gonzo ran at the Pro Day this year, that was as fast as any 40 yard dash Teddy had run. Ginn didn't run at the pro day, so I'm not sure from where his 40 time was taken. Recriting camp, perhaps?

On field and in pads, Ginn's faster.

He might be as fast as any player on the team, Ted Ginn Jr. included.

Tressel said Anthony Gonzalez “really showed he could add a lot in the big-play (area) and showed he could stretch the field. I’m not sure who’s faster than him in the 40. I’m sure there will be arguments about who’s faster than whom. But Tony can really put some pressure on a defense.”

Anthony Gonzalez admits he doesn’t look like much of a burner. With his stocky build and receding hairline, he easily could pass for a coach.

First Post towards the end

Didn't find any times to back this up, but I also seem to recall Teddy agreeing Gonzo was faster... anyone have that?

Gonzo is supposedly to be a few hundreths of a second faster in the 40, but Ginn is faster top-end...Ginn would be just about ready to pass Gonzo when they hit the 40-yard point in a head-to-head race, and would be ahead by the 45-yard mark...

I picked up Lindy's today, and I don't think they believe you UTMNC. They have USC with the top receivers (Texas isn't even #1 in the state. TTech, Florida, ND, and OSU come before you.).

USC? Why that's what I said...

I'm a little surprised to see ND up there, to be honest. If Holmes came back for his senior year, I'd bet OSU would be #1... maybe still 2 to USC.

It was just my opinion, nothing more. Who's better: USC- mabey, ND- please give me a break. TT- Tech will always have receiving recognition because of the 5-6 receiver set, and throwing it 95 times a game, but the quality of tech's receiver are below UT. This just entered on the Hornfans board, Some poster on there who manages some Apt. complex close to the campus said Ramonce Taylor just leased an apt, and informed him that All the charges are being dropped against him.

And it's just their opinion, nothing more. Why do you feel the need to degrade theirs if it's "just their opinion"?
