Game Thread: Louisiana Tech 40, Fresno State 28 (final)

You guys have immeresed yourselves so much into this "debate" and whipped yourselves into such a frenzy that you misinterpret any argument that doesn't start with "Oregon doesn't deserve any kind of bowl, period" as a threat or an argument against tOSU.

I don't feel frenzied.....

As misunderstandings go, see page 1 and the top of page 2 of this thread. Seems OSU fans aren't the only ones who misinterpret any statement with the word "Oregon" in it.

Thomps, you're still OK for a friggin trojan. :p

Maybe my arguments have been weak because I've never argued that Oregon deserves in over tOSU.

No, but you did try to argue at one point that our schedule was of similar difficulty to Oregon's this year (even saying that we both scheduled one tough game this year, attempting (feebly, I might add in light of their subsequent losses to La Tech and Nevada) to equate their scheduling Fresno St. with our scheduling UT). Fact is that when the rankings come out on Sunday, Oregon will not have defeated one ranked team all season. Not one. The argument that Oregon's 10-1 record is impressive, much like their team as a whole, is very, very weak. They're paper champs, fella.

They followed the same formula you guys did: one tough game and two lesser opponents.

tOSU: Texas, SDSU, Miami(OH)
Floats: Fresno State, Indiana, Houston<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

:slappy:. West coast bias at its finest. Who cares about logic and strength of schedule? Right about now, I'd take Miami of Ohio over Fresno St.

Well actually if you use pollster logic and look at Fresno State the way they look at ND they should still be a top 10 team.

Pollster logic: "Team X played USC tough, USC fields a future NFL hall of famer at each position and the coach is a demi-god so therefore team x must be better than anyone else except USC."

Fan: "But what about the horrible losses to the Nevada, LaTech and MSU's of the world?"

Pollster: "But these go to 11. Didn't you hear me? They played USC tough. USC could beat half the teams in the NFL, if L White gets better maybe they could win the SuperBowl."

Fan: "So the recent media fixation with a clearly overrated OU the past two years resulting in USC not even having to play the best opponent for their 1 1/2 NC's doesn't give you even the slightest reason for pause? Doesn't this seem eerily similar to how good you guys thought OU was in 2003 before they took 2 consecutive ass savageings to end the season?"

Pollster: "I go to stadiums every weekend to watch the games and you think you know more than me by watching it on TV? I'm so sick of idiots like you with all your fancy "logic" talk and "facts and figures". When will you people learn? I am the high priest of college football, just listen to what I tell you and quit trying to think for yourselves...your minds are far to feeble for such things. Facts, figures and logic have are nice but they are a sorry substitute for a good opinion."

Fan: "ok, just so I have this straight...a team that plays USC tough but then has horrible losses to non-bowl eleigible teams should still be in the top 10? The near win to USC is kinda like a win because they did pretty well for mere mortals having to play living God's and probably due to the overwhelming exhaustion from that effort they dropped a few meaningless games to some fuck all teams teams like Nevada, a Louisiana technical college(oxymoron, no?) and MSU?"

Pollster: "Now you are starting to get it, see if you just listen to me its all very clear, and BTW Terry Bradshaw played for LaTech 30 years ago so they are a lot better than you people think. They have lots of southern speed, no way a slow B10 team like OSU could handle them."

This is the same logic everyone was using who was say that Cal was such a great team last year. We all saw just how good Cal was when it left its crummy conference and got creamed by a mediocre Texas Tech team. Outside of USC, the Pac-10's ridiculously soft, and I'm tired of people using the "argument" that sticking close to a good team but ultimately losing to them thereby makes you a good team.
