Game Thread Game Six: #1 Ohio State 35, Bowling Green 7 (10/07/06)

All you need to know about this game.

NIU is a better football team then Bowling Green, and Bowling Green doesn't have Garrett Wolfe.

Buckeyes by ALOT.

Btw, I know someone will bring uo NIU/BGSU vs. Ohio, but don't base our team off of that. We also lost to Ball State last year. We are a MUCH better team then what we showed.

jeremyp;624795; said:
Arguable point, however NIU lost to Ohio U. at home, 35-21...we here at BG just beat Ohio U. on their turf 21-9, so does that mean we're better than both teams? The MAC is always wid eopen in both football and basketball, every team plays differently every week.

The transitive property does not work when comparing teams.

Football games do not occur in a vacuum. They take place within the context of a season.

NIU's worst performance of the year BY FAR was against Ohio. IMHO they experienced a HUGE Buckeye Hangover. Their defense was just plain discouraged. They were convinced that they were as bad as OSU made them look, and that just isn't the case. They somnambulated through that game and gave up more rushing yards to OU than OU has gained against everyone else on their schedule COMBINED. NIU is not even close to being that bad.

Mind you, BG would definitely be able to run on NIU; but GW would leave a cloud of Falcon feathers in his wake as he chalked up another 300 yard day.

By the end of the season, I highly doubt that there will be room for discussion regarding which of these is the better team.

Saturday's game...

Hey Fellas,

Wanted to drop by and say thanks to Buckeyeskickbuttocks for the invite. I'm a proud 1990 grad of BGSU and have been a season ticket holder since 1996. I've also been to every BG/OSU game at the Shoe.

I thought OSU would struggle on D losing all those starters but ya gotta hand it to Tressel and his staff...wow. This could be one of the greatest college football teams in the last 25 years. The OSU offense is too loaded.

As far as Saturday, I know BG faces a huge task in trying to hang with OSU. In 1992 and 2003, BG could have won but didn't. This reminds me more of 1997 when OSU was just too much. BG will play hard and fight but with so many freshmen playing against a veteran OSU team? Very difficult.

I predicted two scores on AZZ.com....my orange and brown glasses score and my outsider view score. In reality, BGSU will have a difficult time in this game although I'm one to always say "Ya never know".

BTW, any bad blood on our site can be tied to a certain troll named Tekini, or something like that. Personally, I don't care about OSU cuz I didn't go to school there. To me, it's just another school...although my Grandfather played hoops at OSU in the 1930's.

I'm bringing my wife ('89 OSU grad) and two boys, 10 and 7, and we'll be sitting in 33B...right about where we were in 2003.

GO FALCONS!

Hey all,

This is Dan from over on Ay Ziggy Zoomba. I would first off like to send my congrats on a great season so far. I think that this game end up alot like the Cincy game you guys played earlier in the year. After a big emotional road victory in a hostile environment. The buckeyes could come out of the gates a little slow and hopefully the falcons can jump on that start. I see it being a little close at half time then OSU shows their overall talent and depth catches up with teh falcons and OSU ends up cruising to a 35-10 victory. I am a lifelong Buckeye fan because if you live in the state of Ohio, you must root for the Bucks, but since i was enrolled at BG, they are #1 on my list and i will be rooting for the falcons saturday. Lets hope for a clean injury free game between the two best football programs in teh state of ohio. Good Luck to the Buckeyes the rest of the way! Also kick the crap outta scUM!!!! (Michigan)

Go Falcons!

Welcome Freak... Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully you will stick around a bit and enjoy some friendly banterings... as for that "Tekini" I can say, he seems to be one odd duck, LOL... Flipper seems to have an unhealthy amount of hatred for us tOSU fans as well...

Stay awhile, enjoy your stay!

Welcome to you as well.... After reading your post I think I'd better call my niece, she attends BGSU but has always been raised a Buckeye, I'd hate to think her mind has swayed just because of a few years of college.

We understand scUM, we don't however tolerate the full correct spelling of THAT state up north, LOL.. :wink2:

btw, do either of you piss in our general direction on a regular basis?????

I think we should add that question to the new members, I can't speak for all here but being as I have to go to opposing boards to gather "tradition" info for the previews I can say Im tired of getting pissed on.

3yards.... how are things looking for hazard pay?

My apologies, I share the same hatred of them as all of you, we do play them in Hockey and we beat them up last year at home.

Welcome visiting Falcons. Just wanted to apologize for any posts you might read on here that suggest a complete lack of respect for BGs chance of winning this game. If you do read such posts likely as not they were written by me. Here's one now.

I like the MAC. Really respect their teams and some of the efforts they make against major programs. I too was in the Shoe to watch BG test my Buckeyes. I like games like that. Almost found myself rooting for you guys. Under the right circumstances there is no question a solid MAC school can upset an average, or even above average, Big Ten team.

But this is not a solid MAC team. Not this year. You are young and you are not deep. And this is the fastest, deepest OSU team in at least 45 years - which is roughly how long I have been following the Bucks. After the September we have had we may well come into this game flat. It wont matter. You may get some breaks. You may get all the breaks. It wont matter. We might turn the ball over a few times and make some bonehead mistakes. It simply wont matter.

You do not have an answer for Pittman and Beanie running behind Boone and Rehring. You do not have an answer for Smith throwing to Robiskie and Hall, let alone Ginn and Gonzo. You do not have an answer for Gholston or Patterson or Pitcock. You don't have an answer for anything we will throw at you. Some teams do. You don't.

The BG game plan should be to run the ball, run the clock, and get out of town with enough healthy players to finish your MAC schedule.

I would have to agree with you here. We are not very good this year nor are we deep, but in say next year or the year after, we will be good. Probably still not good enough to beat the buckeyes. And the BG game plan will be to run the ball. Thats been our game plan all year. And last week we saw the emergence of Chris Bullock, our RS Frosh running back who will set records at BG if he plays for 4 years. Im saying 35-10 in this one.

I also would like to appologize for any hostility towards any of you on AZZ. That's not really what we are about, but we are a fighting group and we will defend ourselves. I thank you for the warm welcome here on BP, this is a very nice forum!

While your apology is nice it is NOT necessary, my skin is thick.. besides, it wasn't your actions, no need to apologize for something that you didn't do...

Um, yeah, there will be a little something extra in your pay this week. I read thru the thread on AZZ and I was dissapointed to put it mildly. I know the BG fans are passionate, but you took quite a beating (unjustified IMO) until some reasonable AZZ members regained composure for the rest of the board.

Anyway, not really looking to rehash the recent past. I'm sure the BG fan base is accustomed to fending off flamers and trolls and just assumed that's what they were going to be doing once again. Doesn't make it right, but I can understand being overzealous when you feel like you're constantly defending the program.

Welcome to the Falcon fans who've found their way to BuckeyePlanet. While this year's matchup doesn't seem to favor your team, I hope we can discuss the two teams, the individual matchups and football in general. For the most part that's the type of fan you'll find at BuckeyePlanet. While we have an obvious affinity for the Buckeyes, you'll also find we have a strong desire to learn about our opponents. Hopefully we can share our views over the next few days (and possibly into the future).
