Game Thread Game Seven: Ohio State 48, Kent State 3 (final)

Well, congrats guys, looks like OSU jumps into the #1 spot with this one. Be careful of MSU next week though, it looks like they're having one of their trademarked seasons: lose to all the crappy teams and scare the good ones. Chances are though, they shot their wad tonight by blowing out IU, they're due for a stinker now.

edit: it still mystifies me how he sort of floats away. that's just freaky. it's like a sideways moonwalk.

Just got home from the game. Had a great time. Met IAB and Big Papa. Two great guys. Drank a whole lot less than I did at the Akron game. Was actually upright at the end of the game.

The people I tailgate with are some of the greatest people I've ever met. And for this reason, I'm yet to actually walk to the stadium this year. I enjoy their company and the atmosphere in the RV lot quite a bit. Knowing I can just walk into the stadium for free for every game is great. But I'm enjoying my tailgate time right now.

Looked for you after the game, sorry we missed you. Man, we had a great time. Great meeting you and was really cool for you to take us around and introduce us to some really great people there. Mrs. Denlinger was so nice, and it was so cool seeing those two pair of Gold Pants on her necklace. Meeting Mr. Trapasso was really cool too. We even caught up with HAYN at the game too. Just added to the great experience. Thanks again Scooter.

Doral Chenoweth III | DISPATCH
Ohio State's Dexter Larimore towers over Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman.

Locked arm-in-arm, Ohio State players looked clean and fresh while they sang and swayed today to the strains of Carmen Ohio.
They lacked dirt stains, thanks to the installation of FieldTurf in Ohio Stadium. They lacked sweat, thanks to the insertion of Kent State into their schedule.
In what felt more like a spring game, the Buckeyes accepted a half-hearted effort from the Golden Flashes and said thank you very much to the tune of 48-3.
Coach Jim Tressel called it a "delay in the Big Ten schedule."

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Thus concludes the I-76 corridor portion of our program. And not a moment too soon. Word is, cable companies were inundated with calls from viewers asking them to remove the Big Ten Network. Leaves are awarded on a zero-to-five basis.
Offense (3 leaves)
Nine rushers, 10 receivers and two quarterbacks mustered 401 yards, not bad considering the starters spent the second half relaxing in hammocks and Beanie Wells barely broke a sweat with a measly four totes. Todd Boeckman's numbers were nice, as are Brandon Saine's moves.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

THE PLAY
Brian Hartline's 90-yard punt return for a touchdown at the start of the second quarter. The longest in Ohio State history, it started the avalanche.
THE STAR
Hartline. He scored the first two TDs as the Buckeyes turned an early struggle into a crushing victory.
THE MISMATCH
Ohio State's passing game vs. Kent State's defense. Todd Boeckman was 13 of 16, with two TDs in just one half. There was much more there if the Buckeyes hadn't insisted on running, too.

Russell, Laurinaitis injuries sting OSU

Saturday, October 13, 2007 8:43 PM
By Tim May

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Maybe it was a pushover game, but Ohio State was still hurting yesterday after it blasted Kent State. All-America linebacker James Laurinaitis sat out the second half, and safety Anderson Russell might miss a game or two.
Russell was carried from the field after he suffered a sprained ankle with 13:14 left in the second quarter when a Kent State player rolled up on him. Russell, who missed the last half of last season after suffering a severe right knee injury, was wearing a protective boot and on crutches at the end of the game.
