Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

We did it in Ann Arbor last year.

Personally, I feel kind of bad about the tough time you have had here. So, let me come clean about my friends here.

You won't have a chance of taking over a bar on High Street, on Lane Avenue, or anywhere on the streets that border campus.

If you drive a few miles further, you can find bars that may be easier to get a crowd into and find a more NIU friendly atmosphere. Maybe even try a "Buckeyes are wussies" chant. Try these areas. It's important to rock up looking like you have money, these are quality establishments.
  • East or West Broad Street (up to the 500 block will be close to High Street and easy to reach).
  • Cleveland Avenue south of Fifth Avenue, or any of the bars close to
  • I-71 North exits at Fifth Avenue or Hudson Street.
PS: You can trust me. I'm in marketing.

They could just takeover Union Station, Wall Street, or Havana. I guarantee that none of these places will have tons of OSU sports fans.

20 friends and I took over a bar on Friday night before The Game in 2003. that town aint shit. G-Force, I suggest four kegs for your little outing. you'd better get there before 6AM though or you WON'T GET IN! If that is too hard for y'all try Varsity Club you should have more luck there. Scooter, that letter is hillarious!!!!

4 Kegs is good, Panini's near 13th is awesome, Out 'r' Inn is also sweet. On Norwich they just opened a new place called Little Bar which is awesome. Plenty of plasma screens, nice bar area, attractive bartenders, etc. We could discuss campus area bars for weeks but the fact of the matter is, NIU fans won't be "taking over" anything unless they go 5 blocks north of campus - and even still it's a pretty fat chance. Like its been said before, 105,000 people in the stadium, and another 250,000 people outside. Drop by anywhere on campus and you'll be guaranteed to have a good time. I doubt OSU fans will cause NIU fans any trouble.

Yeah actually we aren't bringing any fans. We may not even bring the team.
That may not be a bad idea because either way you're going to be taking an L. I would encourage your fans to come anyway to take in one of the top atmospheres, tradition and stadium in the country. From what I hear the niu ticket office will be sending out a lot of tickets to Ohio mailing addresses.
