Game Thread Game Four: #1 Ohio State 28, #24 Penn State 6 (9/23/06)

I'd just like to say that I have never lit anything on fire after a game nor have I been around anything like that. I have, however, run down the street yelling a lot.

I guess you've convinced me that a lot of the fires are planned ahead of time, I always figured they were just spontaneous drunken things.

about as much as rehab counselor who have never smoked pot a day in their life have the sense that potheads often times have the dillusion they can fly... :shake:

Fortunately, the rain might be able to put the fires out that the morons start.

NOTE: If anyone here is thinking of starting a fire, I want you to know that you're a moron. There's no getting around that. There's no defense. You're a moron. It's that plain and simple. So if you're ok with being a moron and putting other people at risk, go ahead and start a moronic fire of some couch that your roommate regurgitated on.
Ok, so I started a fire after the Texas game. It was a big win, and I was happy and after a full day of watching college football I just couldn't resist pulling out the lighter fluid for some fun.

Now, the fire I started was in a grill (charcoal of couse), and it was used to cook a massive piece of rib-eye (salt, cracked pepper, worchestershire sauce). And damn it was good.

I'm sorry but I just can't in good taste make any promises to not start a fire after this game as well. There's a piece of tenderloin in the freezer that's just begging to be grilled.

Ring for sale

The 2002 national championship ring of former running back Lydell Ross is for sale on eBay, and the high bid last night was just more than $6,000. Attempts to reach Ross were unsuccessful, but a former teammate who asked not to be named said Ross sold the ring and his gold pants pendant from the 2005 win over Michigan to a middle man for $3,000, and Ross has nothing to do with the eBay sale.

No one else is at least a little bothered by this?

Not really. It's not my ring, it won't be handed down to my children, etc. Don't think Lydell made a good decision, but that's taken from my perspective.

Who knows, he may have some signifigant financial issues and selling his ring was done as a necessity not for some spending cash. I don't know.

Anyway, I don't really care what he does with his jewelery.

I think the poster who said "Columbus may burn to the ground" said it as a remark to the morons that set those fires. I dont believe he himself is said it as an intention of his own to set fires, but rather as a warning that if/when we beat PSU the idiots are gonna come out of the wood work unfortunately.

So, I dont think we should be harping on the poster cause from the way I read it he was saying that as if it would be a bad thing(which it is). Anyways, maybe im wrong but im pretty sure im right

A few things relating to this game:

1. I hope that fans of Penn State, or of any other team that visits Ohio Stadium, NEVER have anything to say about Ohio State's fans like what our fans had to say about their fans last year. The stories I heard about how the Ohio State fans (and band) were treated were horrendous. I know that fans of other teams probably already have similar stories about Ohio State. I don't want that kind of thing to happen tomorrow, or any other game day. I know I'm preaching to the choir on that point, though.

2. At first, I was thinking, "Paul Poz-what's-his-face is coming to the 'Shoe. The guy who stole Hawk's award. I hope they boo that jerk-store all the way to next week." But then I realized that what's-his-name didn't STEAL it. I may have disagreed with whoever voted for him to win the award, but that's a difference of opinion. Maybe I can boo THEM. But to boo him for something he didn't even do is pretty stupid. And I don't like the idea of booing visiting fans, anyway, unless there's a really good reason to. (Maybe the team is full of dirty players, for example.)

3. I don't think this "Sea of Scarlet" thing is going to be noticed much. It might make a mention on the TV broadcast, but it won't look any different from any other game. I just hope that this immitating of Penn State doesn't go on any longer. Next, we'll all hear chants of "WE ARE... OHIO STATE!!!" at the game.

4. On some radio show this morning, they said that Ohio State has won something like 10 games in a row against the spread. That's awesome. Very unusual from 2002.

5. I don't think that Penn State can stop Ohio State's offense. There're too many weapons. It's odd, but the weak point is the field goals, and that's probably about average for the Big Ten. If Ohio State can get to this new Penn State quarterback, I think the defense will be in good shape.

My predictions: Ohio State 915 - Penn State 4.

plus it might rain meaning that there might even be less scarlet in the crowd than usual... it's going to be fun though

Well said.

The thing about Poz is that he's exactly the kind of kid we want in Scarlet & Grey.

Everytime he is quoted I can't help but think "Damn that's one hell of a kid!"

I know that I'll be rooting like hell for him to succeed on Sundays.

Nits starting rumors about TG hurt.

Good. Let them take comfort in false hopes. :)

That's just great... way to be a class act. :shake:

Are you kidding? I didn't say I was starting any fires. Just, when there are morons lighting dumpsters on fire after we beat f'ing Cincinnati, I have low no expectations when it comes to fan behavior before, during, or after the game. I plan on calling everyone I see being a douche out.
