Congrats, I called that one too.
Now for my predictions...
We will beat PSU, Iowa, BGSU, MSU, IU, Minny, Illy, NW and scUM. We will then win our bowl game, another "staple" under Tressel.

This guy is priceless...

I especially like the comment about how well Morelli plays against better competition. He's started 3 games, played OK against Akron, got rocked by ND and basically sucked against YSU. So I'm assuming by "better competition" he means PSU's scout team last season.:slappy:

My favorite part is where he said Youngstown State is good prep for Tressel's style. I'm sure they'll be more than prepared after facing the size and speed YSU brings compared to the Bucks.

Most of the people in that thread seem pretty reasonable though. That PCUBalls cat though is off his rocker.

I like how he boasts how he predicted PSU over Minnesota.

We're working on it :wink2:

Puss with Bells on again:

About Morelli said:
He was overconfident against Youngstown State. He will not suffer the same fate against a respectable opponent like OSU. Morelli's best game was against the most formidable defense we played against. Why? Why did Morelli tail off against Akron after starting so well?

So lets follow the bouncing ball.
He was over-confident against Youngstown State, but the reason why he will do so well is because he automatically does better against better defenses - which sounds like Puss is saying Morelli will be playing with confidence, which was his undoing against YSU. And, Akron was the best D they faced (I'm guessing) as they got smoked by the Irish, who got smoked by scUM. (Which game merits no mention in the above analysis by PussinBoots).

The only thing more laughable than Pretzel Logic is seeing someone get totally self-tortured by the same. With few exceptions everyone from the Nitt board is ripping him - and I don't mean the stray Buckeye fans dropping in for a little fact correction. It is the regulars who are taking him to task.

Damn you beat me to it, my prediction was that you would make that prediction :)

Just curious what makes you think a PSU offense that struggled against 1-AA YSU and was, too be kind, mediocre against ND will score 26 points against a defense that has allowed that number in its previous 3 games...to include what is still a potent Texas offense?

I guess our only chance is to spot PSU to a big lead. That way Morelli will become overconfident and we can stage a comeback.

I hate it when I let tools make me look things up, but here are the stats for the three QBs who have played Akron to date:

Central Mich - 7.0 YPA, 69% completion rate
NC St - 6.7 YPA, 51% completion rate
Morelli - 6.5 YPA, 50% completion rate

I think last years offense woes were somewhat decided when Barton got hurt early on a FG attempt and we had to shift linemen around which caused us big problems.
No. Last years offensive woes were the result of an incredible defense with guys like Tamba Hali, Scott Paxson, Matthew Rice, Alan Zemaitis, Chris Harrell, Calvin Lowry, and Anwar Phillips. All seniors ... all gone. That's 3/4ths of the D-Line and the entire secondary.

That wont happen this year.
I agree. Troy will torch their DBs, Morelli won't be able to return the favor.

Hilarious...Minnesota was one-dimesional ass-cream last year...same as they are every year. Penn State fans were just happy they could beat Minnesota for a change (the 1999 game is a particularly sore spot).

Most of the people over there basically are predicting a loss, so other than the one or two ass-beads there isn't a whole lot of wild speculation from what I've read over there...most of that was erased by the ND game and the subsequent beating Michigan put on the Domers.

They have a few good players on defense, but without man-beast Hali this year, there is no one to put the heat on Smith, even if they think that will win the game for them. Their team is not a good matchup against us...but they can probably beat most of the other teams in the Big Ten if Morelli plays well.

Uh, somehow I doubt that an offense that scored all of 17 points against a shitty Notre Dame defense will score 26 against ours...keep in mind that Penn State didn't score a TD until the score was 41-3 and Notre Dame was in bench mode. In fact, they'll be lucky to sniff the endzone at all...

Bulletin board material

No. 1: Apparently safety Donnie Johnson didn't hear Paterno when, after Saturday's loss, the coach said the Lions were going to go home and "keep our mouths shut."

An Ohio native, Johnson was asked what next weekend's game at No. 1 Ohio State meant.

"Nothing," Johnson said. "I never did like Ohio State. I have no respect for Ohio State whatsoever. Hopefully, they'll still be No. 1, so if we knock them off, Penn State will be right back on the map."

No. 2: Johnson apparently didn't have much respect for Notre Dame either - until that game began:

"We looked at Notre Dame film, and they weren't good from what we saw on film," said the senior safety, who admitted to being shocked. "They didn't have nothing that stood out."
