Game Thread Game Eleven: Ohio state 25, Michigan 21 (final)

Is there anything nicer than a Thanksgiving following a victory at Ann Arbor? Is there anything more satisfying? The NC game in 03 and the Rose Bowl victory in 97 come to mind. I think I'm going to turn off the Bengals and watch the Bucks beat those bastards again!

I'm watching my tivoed version of the espn classic replay. there is 7:14 left and we are down 12-21. oh no!!!

edit: Just something I've noticed during the game, and something that was said earlier in this thread......every time Michigan needed some time to think about a third and long or 4th and short play, somebody came up injurred in the piss and blue. How coincidental. :roll2:

another edit: Their dumbass TE who decided not to get out of bounds on the last play actually fumbled the ball and we returned it for a TD. Don't know why they blew the play dead. Should have won 31-21.

Total incompetence by the officials. They never blew the play dead, called forward progress, or ruled on possesion. They just stood there and looked stupid....Uh, game over?

The side judge should of stopped forward progress and wound his arm...play clock continue.

Another moment of incompetence by a very poor team of officials.

wasn't his forward progress pretty much stopped? I agree the refs were quite dense on that play to do nothing, but i don't think we really earned a td there anymore than IU did on their return.

I watched that play again this AM after reading that there may have been a fumble. Didn't notice it at full speed (Was too busy watching the clock and jumping up and down when dipstick didn't go OB) But, on review, it looks to me like it was indeed a fumble. Cameraman didn't notice either, but someone - not sure who - definately goes in grabs the ball and takes off down the sideline.

I noticed the players running in the opposite direction when it was live, but i was also too concerned about the clock to care what they were doing. the refs were clueless. if they wanted to call forward progress they should've motioned SOMETHING. they just stood there.

I just watched the ending again, and I agree. There is no whistle,
no marker that the play has stopped. I wonder if the refs just
figured the game was over, since Michigan had no timeouts.

In watching the final drive again, I also question the refs' clock
after Ginn catches a ball on the first play of the drive. Clock shows
4:12 after Ginn goes out of bounds, but the clock continues to tick
down to 3:45 before the next snap. Am I missing something?

If that play is the one I'm thinking of, Josh is right - the one where Ginn caught a 7 yarder with 1 hand and was driven back. There was another pass to Ginn however shortly before or after thuis one, where I was wondering why the clock didn't stop and if you're talking about that one, IIRC the angle we had for that play (as TV viewers) don't show whether he went out or not, although I was left with the impression he must have.
