GA RB Elijah Holyfield (Georgia Signee)

Would you have him over Kareem Walker? And Demario McCall?

I think Walker is more of a RB than McCall. McCall, IMO is more of a Pivot like George Hill. I say we get whoever wants to commit first between Holyfield and Walker. Both are tremendous talents that we can't go wrong with either.

McCall will be a pivot/utility guy but there are a lot of big name guys we could just as easily land like Walker. I would not have him over Walker in terms of rankings but no way you can turn down a verbal from Holyfield...this kid is legit.

There's a lot to like on that highlight film, but it's hard to estimate how his game will translate to the next level. He shows a great jump-cut, consistently breaks arm tackles and has good speed, but he's neither a bulldozer nor a burner. It seems you generally try to extrapolate one or two extraordinary skills (the speed of Dontre Wilson, the brutish size of Leonard Fournette), but it seems Holyfield lacks that one remarkable trait.

That said, I think his size (I'd imagine he plays at 220 lbs. in college) and vision will allow him to be a standout at the next level. Also love this quote for the AJC article, "Elijah said he is the most proud of his father's fights that lasted 15 rounds. 'I think those were always the testament to how hard he worked,' he said." Gives you a little insight into his demeanor and work ethic.

Really hope Elijah becomes a Buckeye.

Georgia fan Evander Holyfield happy his son received UGA offer

Evander Holyfield, the five-time world heavyweight champion, just smiled when asked about his new title: Father of one of Georgia’s top football prospects for next year.

Elijah Holyfield is a 4-star running back from Woodward Academy high school who has nearly 30 early scholarship offers.

Boxing and football are two different sports, but the celebrity father and son have a lot in common with their approach to them.

“Elijah is in good shape,” Evander told the AJC. “He’s one of those kids that does the proper things. He loves working hard. When I was a kid, I loved working hard. He’s the same way. He pushes himself to do whatever’s necessary to be the best he can be.”

The younger Holyfield stands around 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds and is known for (no surprise) his bruising style of play. He loves making contact with defenders, and seems to get stronger as the game goes along.

“He’s good at running back,” said his father, who played cornerback as a kid. “He made up his mind to be a running back because he used to play linebacker, too. He likes to hit. He’s physical. And he has the speed to be a good back.”

Elijah has around 30 scholarship offers, with one of his most recent being from UGA. The elder Holyfield has attended Bulldog games over the years, and you know he’s there because there’s usually a few TV shots of him in a jersey on the sidelines.

“I was happy about that offer because I’m a Georgia fan,” Evander said. “And then I found out that he liked Georgia, so that offer was a good thing.”

What made the boxing champion a fan of UGA? “Going to the Boys Club while growing up, they took us to go see Georgia play,” he said. “And Georgia is just a good team.”

Evander said his son’s not close to making his college decision, and that he’s trying to preach patience.

That quote made me do a little research because it doesn't sound like they're all that close. Holyfield has 11 children from 6 women. Interesting.

EDIT: Make that 12.

Yeah, Papa Holyfield certainly got around. I doubt his input will be very strong on where Elijah will go. I believe this was written on a Pro UGA site as well. I'm sure that Elijah is still wide open and OSU still has a shot as early as it is with him
