Watching his game on ESPNU. Slow, low scoring grinder (7-7) against a very good defense. I'm surprised by how much Chandler is running the ball. But you can see the potential from Raiola even without the stats. Great arm, great ball placement. Can be very dangerous extending the play and moving in the pocket with more work.

He's the type of player everyone should be excited about. Looks really advanced for a junior in HS, but has such great physical ability that he's not close to his ceiling.

Also watched (first half) of that game. Thought the Basha (?) QB outplayed Dylan somewhat - mostly with the ability to make plays with his feet. Dylan was pretty 'conservative', using more of a West Coast (just move the sticks, baby) style, then wham. Lofted a (30 ((40?)) yard strike downfield. Not a coniseur of QBs, he showed me arm strength, great placement, and command of the play. also kept the play alive with some pocket movement. He had a very good runner (#22), who is an Oregon commit I believe, that did most of the work. Probably had 150 before halftime. Wasn't the air raid shootout I expected, but hey, HS football is NOT to be evaluated at college level. Big guy, strong body, able to fight off arm tackles. Also saw why so hard to judge OLmen. Anyway, looking forward to that young man throwing strikes in Ahia stadium.. Go Bucks!

I watched some of this and echo the comments on his arm talent.

But came away concerned about his mobility.
He is pretty nifty in escaping pressure within the pocket v hs kids.
But he is enormous and plodding at times.
Ben Rothlisberger vibes.
If you are bummed Stroud doesn’t keep it on the zone read prepare for more of the same.
I’d guess he is in the 5.3 forty range.

I hear you, and I watched the highlights, and he’s not mobile , but he doesn’t need to be with his arm. He can make every throw imaginable, and has an absolute cannon!
And as far as mobility, Stanford won a Super bowl running a 4.8, Mahomes is one of the best in the NFL and also ran a 4.8. Matt Leinert is a CFB legend who ran a 4.9. 40 times can be overrated for QBs. He’s not being brought in to be Mike Vick, he’s being brought in to get the ball to his weapons. Stroud could be OSU’s next Heisman winner and would probably lose to Dewand Jones in a race:lol:
@1926Buckeyes gave the best breakdown of his game. He’s only a HS Junior, and he’ll only get better working with Day. If he doesn’t run for 1000yds, he’ll still be great

Raiola is also speaking to multiple top-30 defensive prospects such as Buford (Ga.) five-star safety KJ Bolden, Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius four-star defensive lineman Justin Scott and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star safety Peyton Woodyard. He added that “I’d be here for a little bit” if he named each recruit he is in contact with.

“I always tell them it’s building the relationship first and then we can get to the recruiting later,” said Raiola, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Consensus and 2024 On300. “I’m just really trying to learn about new people in this football world.”

When Raiola speaks with these recruits, he makes sure to tell them why they should choose Ohio State. Right now, the Buckeyes’ 2024 recruiting class contains two prospects in Raiola and New Palestine (Ind.) four-star interior offensive lineman Ian Moore.

“I just am honest with them and tell them that it’s a special place,” Raiola said. “I can tell you about it, but if you don’t go up there and see it, it’s different when you’re there. For the most part, all the recruits I’ve talked to know that the coaching staff is authentic and I just give the reasons why I committed. The brotherhood, the strength program they have there, the nutrition, the academics, the whole nine yards. It’s the best place to go to.”
