GA DB KJ Bolden (Georgia Signee)

Then why keep screwing with it? You know this insanity is out there yet you keep expending recruiting resources to be a hat on the table.

Find a new strategy.
I'm fine with that and for all we know, the kid was selling that story until the last week and then changed his mind like a teenager. Honestly I think that is also why such the very serious switch to Ohio kids because that NIL draw might not be the #1 draw

Can we really rely on the transfer portal for all of the misses?
We haven’t been… but IMO yeah you actually can.

That might even be a good plan to be honest. Let these kids go to middling schools for the NIL money and when they realize they have no shot to win many will eventually bolt.

Do any of us really think Lightfoot is staying at Miami for 3-4 years? No freaking way

I’m down for whatever but I don’t buy the “it’s just this special circumstance around this one kid” nonsense at all.

One is a coincidence, two is a trend. We are well down the path of a trend.

And be Michigan and just settle for kids you know aren’t going to win a national championship for you? Ohio State is doing as good as you can reasonably expect in the current environment and will likely hit the transfer portal more frequently (at least in the short term) to fill needs on the roster when they swing and miss on players like Stewart and Bolden.

And hell, like I said, it might even be those same players in a few years Tywone Malone style.

My thought is that we have to identify a kid or two we will do anything it takes to land. Those are the kids you match any offers for.

If we don’t have that stomach then I agree why even recruit the kid?

I never said it was just this one kid. I was referring to these kids bailing at the last minute when a crapload of money comes into play at the last second. There's no preparing for that if they sell the "family atmosphere" focus the entire recruitment. Gonna have to just label kids a "dream player" and know that they are going to likely be pulled by the money and then focus on the next group below them that we can get the majority of.

I said in another thread that as long as we are pulling what are considered 4Stars and not having to scUM it up at the last second and pull 2Stars, we're going to be just fine as long as the coaches don't crap the bed coaching them up.

And that’s just wild… honestly I’d walk away from the kid too if I were osu. These schools like FSU, Auburn, AM and Miami are landing 3-5 NIL kids per class hoping it changes their trajectory.

But if we give Bolden 2.2m we’d eventually have a bunch of kids upset. That’s not sustainable.

Totally get just folding on this one
This!

Our defense is horrible. People have talked themselves into the usual summertime sunshine pumping echo chamber belief that domination starts this year but the on field results are awful.

So no, we aren’t doing as as well as can be expected. If you have a true leader he understands that no one cares how hard it is. You are judged by how well you find a way. That’s it. There is no participation or good sportsmanship trophy coming.

I wasn’t directing that at you. Lots of folk’s though, have the litany of excuse.

Totally agree with then direction you outline but would leave the execution to to “experts” inside the WHAC. Wasting time and energy on this nonsense of coming in less than first for the 372nd time is getting old quick. As is losing to tsun. As are the other moral victory trophies.

Time to win or move aside for someone who can.

That works with superior coaching. I have many doubts there but that’s for another thread.

This year is different I think.

I think the front 4 has a shot to be the best we’ve had. Maybe there’s no chase young but the depth is very good. I think Tommy is outstanding at LB and I think our 3 corners are way ahead of last year.

We have struggled on the back end because we lacked the talent. Last year only Zach Harrison got drafted and that’s a huge indictment on why we struggled.

This years, the secondary takes a massive leap because of Styles by himself. At this point I’m not sold on Ransom and Carter is a question mark but that’s much better than what we had last year. Last years defense for all their shortcomings still improved greatly as well.
