I'd be surprised if he isn't an all-star in the NBA. Don Nelson said that what he looks for most in a guard/wing is the ability to pass , b/c that's what really separates players. He said that's all he looked at when he watched LeBron for the 1st time in a high school game. And he saw how great of a passer he was he knew he'd be great.

When you combine D'Angelo's passing with his shooting/scoring you have a guy who will be a very good NBA player.

Its because passing requires several things that are difficult to teach, being unselfish and understanding the game. YOu can teach someone to shoot better, dribble better, defend better, but its really difficult to teach the things to make someone a great passer. ITs also a skill that elevates the talents of the players around them.

In all fairness to Redd he only played in 30 games (vs 35 for Russell) his freshman year

Russell: 35 G, 19.3 PPG, .449 FG% (.479 2FG%, .411 3FG%), 5.7 REB, 5.0 AST, 1.6 STL
Redd: 30 G, 21.9 PPG, .438 FG%, (.490 2FG%, .303 3FG%), 6.5 REB, 3.0 ST, 2.0 STL

Both players were freaking awesome.

Unanimous selection: D'Angelo Russell is a Unanimous First-Team All-American

Buckeye freshman guard D'Angelo Russell is now a Unanimous First-Team All-American, earning First-Team recognition from the United States Basketball Writers Association, The Sporting News, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and the Associated Press, which are the four All-American teams recognized by the NCAA.
The NABC and AP announced their teams on Monday.
