So the front end was one of the big projects this year. Yes, the search engine was a big deal, but the bigger project was fixing what was an utterly broken and poor representative front end in our WordPress attempt.
I continue to tweak it and try to round it out to a genuinely valuable starting point for the site. The video feed from USA Today has actually been much better than I expected when I plugged it in, I actually finding myself checking the front page every day to see what new video content is up.
I've also added Twitter feeds, both our tweets as well as our likes, and may add a third that covers current and former players and media personalities. There's a trivia game that includes and head-to-head component. We have our articles of course, featured in the slider at the top. There's promotion for content on some blogs near and dear to us. And of course we have the most recent posts from our core fora prominently displayed.
What else, if anything, would make it better and more worthwhile? For years I've wanted to go from "we have a front page?" to "the front page is my bookmark and launching point into the site."
