Fred,
you made the smart decision. Sure you could have played a scant 120 miles from your hometown. But it would have meant learning from some of the worst offensive coaches in the country. It would have meant playing with a mediocre quarterback in front of a god-awful offensive line and the worst running attack in modern OSU history. But at least you could have seen your 5 and 6 yard completions result in 55 yard field goal attempts every other quarter.

Recruits have to make the right decisions for themselves, obviously not for the fans. You can watch documentaries like Hoop Dreams or Year of the Bull and get a watered-down inkling of the pressures that these kids face during the recruiting process, and those pressures increase on a logarithmic scale every single year as more fans find themselves on the internet. That these ARE in fact kids just compounds the difficulty of the process -- particularly when factors at home or in their personal lives, backgrounds or general situations further complicate the already impossible issues.
All that aside, fuck him[sup]1[/sup], we didn't need another TE anyway.

Yeah I'm sure Fred Davis knew something we didn't. No one in the country had a clue that we would be inexperienced in the trenches. No one could have guessed our offense would be this bad and our QB would have a tendency to get a little jumpy under pressure. 
With the playing time he's getting at USC, our need for an additional TE, TG2 getting so much playing time and the fact that we now throw 30-40 passes a game INCLUDING on 3rd and 1 or 2...Fred is probably regretting the decision.
