Former WVU Head Coach Bill Stewart (RIP)

WVU's AD just happens to be Stanford QB Andrew Luck's father. Sweet irony would be Harbaugh going to WVU while the HickRod empire continues to flourish up North.

Lets move from California to West Virginia. What part of that statement makes any sense? Lets take a step down from the Pac 10 to the Big East. Lets move to a university where the football facilities are worth as much as the new bathroom Stanford installed in his office.

It was a joke.

I would send my resume but I think the one they have on file from 3 years ago looks much better.

Hope you saved that on a flash drive. They don't have a whole lot of hardcopies left.

From Seibel & Starkey

Colin Dunlap of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN joined Seibel and Starkey today to break the news that Oklahoma St. Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen has been hired at WVU as the offensive coordinator, and will take over as the head coach in 2012, at which point Bill Stewart will be reassigned in the athletic department.
Holgorsen, who was thought to be the leading candidate for the Pitt head coaching vacancy as of two days ago, was brought in to replace Stewart, and according to Dunlap, may have been a candidate to replace Stewart as early as October after WVU lost to Connecticut.
Pitt meanwhile is still left searching for a head coach to replace Dave Wannstedt.

According to reports, HC-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen was asked to leave a casino a little after 3 am one day last week. He probably needs to hope the video of the incident never gets released.

WVU looking into alleged incident at track

MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University is looking into an "alleged incident" believed to involve the football team's offensive coordinator and head coach-in-waiting, Dana Holgorsen, at a Cross Lanes casino last week.

Multiple sources told the Charleston Daily Mail Holgorsen was removed from Mardi Gras Casino & Resort after 3 a.m. May 18. Holgorsen had been at a Mountaineer Athletic Club function earlier in the day in Logan before spending the evening at the casino with other university representatives.

In a statement released late Tuesday night, Michael Fragale, the assistant athletic director for communications, said, "Athletic director Oliver Luck and head coach Bill Stewart have been made aware of the alleged incident. Once they have all the facts, they will deal with it appropriately."

The statement was released not long after a Daily Mail reporter left a voice message for a football program official asking if the university was aware of the incident involving Holgorsen.

Holgorsen's behavior allegedly reached a point that necessitated involvement from on-site security, sources said. Holgorsen was escorted out of the casino with the episode caught on surveillance. University representatives who were with Holgorsen were said to have then intervened. No arrest was made.

Police records indicate Metro 911 received a call from the casino at 3:13 a.m. that night. A "white male" was said to be "refusing to cooperate with the casino's management." Casino supervisors had the male detained at the time.

The Nitro Police Department was dispatched to the scene. The official records do not say what happened next, but it's believed Holgorsen was released under the supervision of those he was with.

Former coach Stewart to get $1.6M from West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Former West Virginia coach Bill Stewart will receive $1.65 million as part of a settlement agreement, the university said Monday.

WVU released the agreement to The Associated Press under a West Virginia Freedom of Information Act request.

The agreement is dated June 10, the same day Stewart resigned. Coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen was introduced as head coach that night.

The structure of the payment wasn't immediately set. WVU said the payment was for "general and liquidated damages" but didn't indicate whether any of it was for salary owed for the 2011 season.

As a condition of the settlement, the university and Stewart agreed not to pursue future action and refrain from engaging in disparaging conduct or communications against the other.

Two weeks ago a former Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter said Stewart called him shortly after Holgorsen's hiring and asked him to find something negative on the new hire.

WVU athletic director Oliver Luck has said the university was unable to substantiate unspecified rumors that had dogged the program in recent weeks.

Stewart went 28-12 in three seasons after taking over for Rich Rodriguez but failed to earn a Bowl Championship Series berth. Stewart signed a six-year contract in September 2008 and that agreement was amended last year when Luck decided to replace him.

When he resigned this month, Stewart gave a statement through Luck that he was "doing what I believe to be in the best interest of the Mountaineer Nation."
