Michael DiRocco with ESPN tweeted recently that Tressel is considered a serious canidate for the Tennessee job now. This is supposed to be news from industry leaders, just who those leaders are, who knows. Wish the best for JT, but I just don't think he'd look good in Orange and that program is in shambles. If Chip Kelly goes to the NFL I'd love to see JT go there.

Not with a show-cause.

NFBuck already got there. JT has a show-cause. That basically eliminates him from contention right now.

I think Tennecheat will look for a hire that isn't exactly obvious right at the moment, that program doesn't rate a coach on JT's level at this time.

A Vol fan friend sent me what he heard UT's top 5 coaching prospects were:

1) Gruden
2) Petrino
3) Golden
4) Bob Stoops
5) Mora, Jr.

I love the delusions of that fanbase. That job is considerably less attractive than it was last time, and even then they had to settle for a scrub who had losing seasons in 2 out of the 3 he coached in the Sun Belt. :slappy:

I'm hearing they have somewhere between 7-10 million in buyouts. In their press conference today they said they had something like 1.9 million in reserves. Going to be tough to go up against school offering a lot more money. UT fans keep pointing to Gruden's wife and her ties to the University.

Of this list, Golden is the most realistic. Not sure about Petrino, unless they have spare ladies and some training wheels for the cycle around somewhere.

Gruden? Forget it. And Mora, Jr.? He's playing for a possible BCS bowl berth. Stoops will never leave OU.
