Game Thread For the Natty vs Notre Dame, Jan. 20th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Not sure notre damn is going to sit back there and chunk it anyways (minus the injuries). This is heavy running scheme coming our way (heavy qb sneak). Bucks will be fine as long as they don’t go TSUN and try to fight them in a phone booth.
Yeah I don't think throwing the ball nonstop was ever the plan, so the injuries probably make it even more apparent how hard they lean on the run in this game. Load up against the run and trust our DBs in man imo...they might hit a play or two, but over the course of the game I think that would be more effective.

Why is Tennessee Goofy?

The way Ranson arrives with bad intent I wouldn't mind him being the spy occasionally. He's already sent 2 RBs to the sideline in the playoffs. Why not a QB? In the vernacular of McAfee's crew, time for Leonard to get RAM TRUCKED.

The little I saw if Angelini makes me think that the Bucks are better off with Leonard on the field. Would love to see another hot start to force ND to play up tempo.

ND is not a zone scheme defense but they are going to have to be in this game....they can't man up with and Freeman alluded to that too. Changing your scheme for one game is obviously incredibly difficult. With Mills out and Cross having a high ankle sprain, they just don't have much talent on the DL so our OL and Will should have plenty of time.

ND was very, very lucky they got to play UGA with a backup QB and PSU who has zero WR talent, and even then they barely eeked it out.

This should be a comfortable OSU win, book it!

With Knapp out at LT and potentially not having Spindler, our DL could have a feast. Others could step up like we have when we lost Simmons and McGlaughlin, but that is tough to do against a very good defensive front...I know there is more time to do so by the 20th, but I can't imagine the new LT being too pumped to see JT and Sawyer coming at him left and right.
Yeah like you mention them having to do it vs the best DL in the country is quite an ask.

An underrated part is they clearly prefer to play man so do they have as much work running zone? For example Texas could do that because they play zone I think it was 70 of the time. But how is ND going to do running something they prefer not to do?

If the Silver Bullets control the LOS and Cody spies on the ND QB it is going to be hard for the Irish to move the ball.

High ankle sprains usually linger and take time to heal. Cross' injury was serious as he has missed three games because of it. Its likely he will play but you have to question his health and conditioning over four quarters of play.
Compare that to JTs ankle injury and on Sawyers legendary play JT was part of the convoy of Silver Bullets racing 80 yards downfield.
