Football, Futbol, Soccer, etc. (Official Thread)

Exactly. Brazil has no business hoping for a draw in a competition where MAYBE two teams are better than them (ARG, Chile).

US got who I wanted in the quarters. Slow down the Valencia's and you beat Ecuador.
I would say you can't complain facing Ecuador, but Columbia got very lucky. If they tied Costa Rica, USA would be facing Peru. But since they lost, the y face Peru. Ecuador is much better than Peru.

No doubt. My prediction came last night after the US game was over. One of my buddies asked me who I thought the US would get in the next round. I said whoever ended up 2nd in that group, thinking Brazil was 100% in. That being said, Colombia is VERY fortunate. They rolled out a lineup with 10 different starters from the first two group games. They gambled resting their players, and it didn't cost them a thing. I give them my respect, takes some balls to rest your players in an international competition.

It's so crazy to think that a team as powerful as Brazil can manage to completely fall flat on their faces this tournament. They have not looked good, at all (aside from Haiti, but Haiti's GD was -11 ). Same goes for the Netherlands missing out on the Euro's.

I did not expect the US to make it out of this group, and I praise JK for finding the right Starting XI to get there. He takes more heat from the media, and fans than any other person (especially for a USMNT boss). I don't remember Bob Bradley taking criticisms essentially the day after he took the job.

Lastly, John Anthony Brooks is top 3 CB I'm this tournament. Only two I would have ahead of him is Cristian Zapata (COL) and Gary Medal (Chile).

First....pet peeve of mine. It's biased. Bias is a noun.

Second.....what?
Sorry too ruin youre mornin wit me grammatical error.

Third, BIASED or not, would you bet your home that the ball touched his hand?
I don't think there was inconclusive evidence. His arm and leg come up simultaneously, angle 2 looks like the ball is coming off his knee. Angle 3 looks like a potential handball, but it's an overhead shot, and farther out than any other view.

If it were the NFL instant replay, I dont think it gets overturned. I don't think you can say 110% that his hand touched it. Note I am bias to Peru as well.
Oh, you just don't know the rule of a handball then. It can be misleading, but it's not just your hand. It's your entire arm. I know shoulder is OK, and therefore your upper arm is a grey area, but for the most part your entire arm is illegal.

I would bet more than my home that the goal should have been called a hand ball. It's clear as day.

The back story on that is interesting.....and I'm sure it was intentional

Uruguay's soccer president went off when he was upset that the US won hosting rights - he said the country doesn't love soccer (okay, you got a point there), that we shouldn't host, etc. etc.

Well, US made sure to remember that and have a slight mistake when the moment was right.....well played US, well played.
