Not sure if anyone watches the Copa Libertadores, but, I do. It's down to eight teams (Quarterfinals) right now with four teams from Brazil (#1 Fluminese, #2 Corinthians, #3 Santos and #10 Vasco da Gama), two from Argentina (#6 Velez Sarsfield and #9 Boca Juniors), one from Chile (#4 Universidad de Chile) and one from Paraguay (#5 Libertad). The numbers are the clubs rankings after the group stage as the knockout round is seeded 1-16 after the group stage and played through. Same format as Europe with home & away legs with the away goals rule in effect. The Final is also a home & away series, however, the away goals rule does not apply and there would be extra time in case of a tie on goals.

Carlos Tevez was in attendance as he started out at Boca Juniors as youth as well as winning the 2003 Copa Libertadores with the club. Martin Palermo (Boca Juniors all time leading scorer) was there as well after retiring last season.

With all of the talk in Italy being about Juventus & AC Milan, I'm surprised there hasn't been very much talk at all in regards to Inter. Then again, they did finish 6th & won't be playing in any European competition next season. Lucio is leaving this summer as will Diego Forlan, most likely. I wonder if they will be able to keep Wesley Sneijder as I'm sure United & others will once again try to ply him away and not being in the Champions League could help sway him out. I find it hard for them to get some of the bigger names in Europe not being in the Champions League next season. Apparently Fabio Capello was interested in the job for next season, but they opted for Stramaccioni instead after they felt he finished the campaign well enough after Ranieri got ousted in late March.

Doubtful United go after him again; the Glazers don't go after players over 27 because of the lack of re-sell value they have. Plus, he's on massive wages.

I think Stramaccioni was a good choice. It's about time Inter start reaping the fruits of their top flight academy, and this rebuilding phase will be a good time to integrate some of those young players into the squad. Stramaccioni being the former youth team coach will know those players better than anyone.

Some youth with some smart spending in the next few summers should see Inter back challenging for the scudetto.

I for one hope they can buy Lucas Moura da Silva. That kid is fucking electric. And in Italy he'll have more time on the ball than in England.

Yes he certainly is. Pele is already on his nuts along with Neymar so hopefully he doesn't let that get to his head. Or let Pele try to give him any advice because we all know Pele is a complete fool. Neymar confuses me because he should be playing in Europe. It doesn't sound like he REALLY wants to either, but, Santos are certainly doing there best to keep him in Brazil along with Ganso.

I literally pray for the day Ganso can play in Europe. IMO, he is Kaka reincarnate. The classiest young trequartista in the world.

He is simply a magician with the ball. Always a pleasure to watch. He had a dandy of a goal last week in the 8-0 beat down of Bolivar in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinal 2nd leg.

He's ridiculous. He can do it all. Clever passes reminiscent of Guti, dribbling reminds me of Michael Laudrup, and sees space rather than players.

If/whe he comes to Europe I think he's going to shock a lot of people no are fixated more on Neymar.

Saw an article saying Ganso's agent was/is in Milan. Interesting! :biggrin:


And here's to hoping the rumors about Ibra wanting out are false. Milan can't afford to lose a big striker like him, especially with Pato's injuries.

Auxerre up 1-0 on Montpellier halfway through the first half. PSG-Lorient is still goalless, but this certainly makes things interesting on the last day of games in France.
