Optimism Lover
I was just wondering how many of you out there have any food phobias. I figure if everyone contributes, this could get pretty amusing.

By food phobia, I mean you can't be next to, smell or even imagine the food without literally getting queasy or wanting to projectile vomit accross the room.

I have found that generally, most people's food phobias (including mine, with the exception of mayonnaise which is just putrid) stem from an experience when they ate WAY too much of a particular food, got sick or ill and therefore became repulsed by whatever it was they ate.

My 3 are:

DORITOS - My worst one. I could vomit right now if I wanted to, literally

Papa John's Pizza - Just the smell of their sauce makes me want to die.

Mayonnaise - The sickest goo on earth. I honestly don't know how people can consume this stuff.

I know that for it to be a technical "PHOBIA", fear must be present, but I was just using the term casually in the starting of this thread, although I will literally have to run away from Doritos because if I don't, I will throw up.

Now, jumping out of the window for mayonnaise...that's hardcore. :)

Salmon Patties

When I was much younger my sister decided to try and cook dinner for the famliy. She added baking soda to the salmon patties. Can't eat them since then. Nasty creation anyway.

My only phobia would be not having enough of it, given that I like just about anything edible and am willing to eat most of the few things I don't like if it's put in front of me and I'm hungry. Pickled plums, however, which can be found in sushi joints, qualify as nasty, though I'm not going to freak out if exposed to them again. I couldn't eat oysters for about 15 years after I got food poisoned by a bad one, but I'm past that now and like them again.

All of my food phobias are directly related to abuse of alcohol in conjuction with the consumption of said food with disastrous results

#1 - Any type of Sour Cream and Onion flavored potato chips.
Note to anyone on BP- If you are ever in my presence and I happen to inadvertantly injest a poisinous substance that recommends "Induce Vomiting" just wave a bag of these anywhere in my vicinity.

#2 - White Castle - need I say more. I cannot even drive by one of their buildings without getting nauseus.

#3 - Gyros -
I have since conquered this phobia, but from the first week I entered college until about 4 years ago I could not be in the same room as one.

Spaghettios. Every time my brother eats them I want to throw up. Same for Tuna salad or anything that goes with (meat) salad sandwich. Deviled Eggs. Anything with the work casserole in it. Anything with mayo in it. I actually don't mind the smell of coconut, but if I eat it I want to throw up. I've never smelled or eaten olive loaf, but it just looks disgusting. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Liver.... I have since though trained the wife in at least as much as she will call me at work if that is what she is fixing for dinner so I can stop and eat on my way home. I have tried to explain to her that it is the organ that cleans all the toxic shit from your body and there for not something that should be eaten but she continues to do it, just plain freaking nasty.

I'll eat the liver when my mom fries up a chicken. It isn't the best, but I hear it's good for you. Why does your wife make liver if she knows you don't like it? It's not like it's pizza that you don't like, who really eats liver as a meal anyway?

That is probably why I do most of the cooking in my house. If I cook it I like it.

I fear tuna... I was minding my own business one day and a tuna snuck up behind me and just started pelting me with rocks... every time I see one now I get nervous and can't catch my breath.

Heard on the radio this morning there is a new restaurant in Beijing that serves schlong of over 30 different animals. I would say I am deathly afraid of someone wanting to take me to lunch there.
