FLOYD ARE THE KINGS OF ROCK
PINK FLOYD have been named the greatest rock act of all time in a poll of 58,000 fans.

The band, whose classic line-up reunited at Live 8 in July, beat Led Zeppelin into second place.

The rest of the top 10 was:
3:The Rolling Stones
4:The Who
5:AC/DC
6:U2
7:Guns 'n' Roses
8:Nirvana
9:Bon Jovi
10:Jimi Hendrix.

The poll, run by digital radio station Planet Rock, named the 70s as the golden age of rock
Pretty idiotic list IMO but I love seeing my band Floyd get the top spot...U2 and Bon Jovi???

This was run by the UK remember...

The problem with any type of "lists" are what the individual considers in this case

to be "rock" music.

The only groups on there I would consider to be "rock" music would be AC/DC and GNR.

But I think it depends on when you grew up.

Problem is you can dissect it even further into Heavy Metal, alternative...etc.

I definitely have a problem w/ Floyd being #1 over the Stones or Zeppelin. Otherwise, a pretty good list w/ the exception of Bon Jovi!?!? If you want to give Jersey some love put The Boss in the Top 10.

The Grateful Dead should be in the top 5.

They grossed more ticket sales each year that any other band in history INCLUDING the Stones. Had a run from 1965 to the mid 90's. Hard to argue against that.

speaking of floyd...does anybody have pigs (track 3) on the animals album...i want to play it at work...please? I'll pay you in back rubs.

I have it on vinyl. Do you have a turntable at work? :)
Ha ha, charade you are....

Not the worst list I've seen, for sure. I think of Floyd as more of a Progressive Rock band, and I would put Zep and The Who as the top 2 "rock" bands. The Beatles should also be in there.
Since it's a UK klist, I'm surprised Cream isn't on there, and maybe Deep Purple.
