Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

FSU gonna escape E$PiN and the ACC? Where they gonna go? Who’s anxious to gain that Tallahassee tv market?
The "experts" on Twitter are all talking about how great of an addition FSU would be to the B1G. They think that Tallahassee market will bring in 100+ million to keep every team's share high. CFB fans really don't understand why the B1G added Rutgers and Maryland.

If you want to be in the playoff game, then schedule some OOC opponents worth something. No top 10 teams. One top 15 team. Two top 40 teams in the power ratings. Their quality win in 3-loss LSU followed by 3-lost Louisville followed by 4-loss Clemson. Only 5 teams on their schedule have a winning record.

Ohio State was left out, in part, because of schedule strength. Herbstreit said that they "played a very weak schedule". Two top 10, three top 15 and 4 top 40 teams.

Undefeated? Play somebody.

you mean schools like:
East Carolina
Bowling Green
UNLV

instead of:
LSU
Florida

Only 5 teams on their schedule have a winning record.

at least all 5 are Power teams.
Michigan only has 4 such teams on their schedule this year.

you do get up to 6 by counting the juggernauts that are Bowling Green and UNLV though.

Mighty Rutgers finishing at 6-6 puts Michigan at only 5 Bowl eligible Power 5 schools on their schedule.
that's less than half for the non-math majors here.

Florida State's schedule wasn't amazing by any stretch, but damn at least the majority (7 games) of it was Power 5 schools able to qualify for one of the eleventy-billion bowl games out there.

The debate isn't FSU or tCun though, it's FSU over UT and/or Alabama.

That said, it's pointless to try to rationalize it because it's more complicated than any 1 thing. If Jordan Travis wasn't injured, they'd be in. If 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks come in and they're as dominant if not more dominant, they'd be in. I think a lot of things about the committee but I don't think they're lying. This was about FSU sans Jordan Travis not being nearly as complete of a team as they were with him. They had confidence UT and/or Alabama would beat a Jordan Travis-less FSU any given Saturday. I don't think they're wrong. It sucks for the team. But this is the bullshit system we live in at the moment.

It's pointless to try and rationalize it because people are bypassing a very simple truth about the CFP. It is an invitational tournament and they have a variety of guidelines (not hard fast rules) in place to allow them to invite whomever they damn well please to their own tournament.

No one was cheated and "fair" is a word children use on playgrounds.

You weren't invited to the party. The End.
