Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

Well those wins over Milsaps College and shit shouldn't count towards the DI record anyway, so it all evens out.

I hate to put words in your mouth, but are you saying that Howard (now Samford) was a "dipshit school" when Bobbah coached there? :tongue2:

NCAA Documents Released: Response To Appeal Of Infractions

Fun reading.

- there were a large number of violations - the violations were committed by a minimum of 61 student-athletes in 10 separate sports; the violations were serious and intentional; student-athletes competed while academically ineligible; there was a finding of institutional failure to monitor; there was wide-spread academic fraud; the academic fraud was perpetuated purposefully by three different individuals in the institution's academic support services, including the former learning specialist. Their culpability was especially egregious as they were among the institutional staff members with particular responsibility to maintain academic integrity; their conduct resulted in unethical conduct findings against each of them. The institution evaluated its processes and staff culpability and concluded that it had prime responsibility for the academic fraud.

In light of these aggravating factors, the university cannot begin to make its required showing that the vacation of records is "excessive such that it constitutes an abuse of discretion" by the Committee on Infractions. Thus, it {ref$u} takes every opportunity to try to minimize the violations and to deflect attention from the wrongdoing by portraying this case as some sort of "philosophical" battle between the COI and the IAC. At bottom, though, this is a case about dozens of student-athletes (aided by their academic advisors) cheating, gaining fraudulent academic credit, and then competing while ineligible due to their academic misconduct. Under such circumstances, what possibly could be "fair" about allowing the contest results to stand?

Look what that idiot President of FSU (TK) said, :slappy:

The university consistently has protrayed the involved student-athletes almost as victims,
placed in an "unfortunate position" and "university-created predicament." (FSU Appeal, Exhibit A)
At the hearing, for example, the university president stated that "we don't really believe
[the studen-athletes] cheated. They got inappropriate help." But, numerous student-athletes
admitted to cheating in the university's academic honor policy process.

No wonder they just booted him.

And finally, maybe indicating that my time here on earth is near an end, this story to make it all complete.

Orlando Sentinel - With ticket sales slow, Spetman says, ?€œCome out and support us?€? by

Spetman and other university officials expected season ticket sales to be slow.
But not this slow. The season-opening Miami game on Sept. 7 at Doak Campbell
Stadium is not yet sold out.

FSU officials had been planning on an 8 percent decrease in season ticket sales for
football. ...FSU is on pace to lose $1.5 million in sales from a season ago.

“I’d plead with our fans to come out and support us,” Spetman said.

:slappy:

We had to drop the donation to be allowed to buy UF season tickets to two grand, so we are hurting too..

No, actually it's a fine school, from what I understand. But they have a dipshit football schedule.

Reminds me of when they did an anonymous article on cheating on tests in the school newspaper...one dipshit said "I'm not cheating, I'm just checking someone else's opinion" :slappy:

But seriously, what's he going to do? Bowden has been completely up front in saying he doesn't believe in punishing his good players (as in having them not play) because "all it does is punish everyone else", so his hands are tied unless he fights the icon.

Florida State turns off professors' phones to save cash

By Doug Blackburn, The Tallahassee Democrat

If a Florida State University student needs to reach his English professor,
he better have the teacher's cellphone number.

In a cost-saving move that illustrates just how dire the budget situation
has become at FSU, the English department is in the process of removing
almost all faculty members' office phones. The History and Modern
Languages & Linguistics departments are taking similar steps.

"I've never seen anything like this before," English department chairman
Ralph Berry said. "It's difficult to have an office and no phone.

There's always Indian drums.

And yet Bobby Bowden finished in the top five in BB73's poll on all time college coaches...

So what's next? He's gonna push for a rule change that when one of his OL false starts, that only that particular OL moves back 5 yards?

That's one of the most important lessons you learn in team sports....when you screw up, your teammates pay the penalty too.

Guys, this man doesn't have the slighetest clue who his starting RB or QB are. Any quotes delivered in the last 10 years should be stricken from record based on mental-handicaps.....

Morning Tomahawks- Tuesday, July?14th - Tomahawk Nation

As you've probably heard, there's a rumor that freshman 4* offensive guard Aubrey Phillips went home yesterday afternoon.
I spoke with someone with knowledge of the situation and they indicated that Aubrey left the team, but also indicated that
it's not unheard of for a homesick player to take some time for himself before the start of two-a-days. As of right now, the
finality of this absence is unclear. If Aubrey wants to come back within a reasonable time, FSU will welcome him back. It's
important to note that this isn't a Rick Trickett casualty- Trickett isn't allowed to work with these guys yet (though he is
enormously demanding once he starts to work with them come August). I hope that Aubrey comes back.
