1. Conference champ - Edge Florida
2. SOS - Edge Florida
3. Non-conference Schedule - Edge scUM
4. "Tough Victories" - Edge Florida
5. "Style Points" - Edge scUM
6. Rematch - Push (Depends on which side you fall on)
7. Eyeball Test (subjective belief that one team looks more like #2) - Edge appears to go to scUM
8. Hottest Cheerleaders - Edge Florida
This is what I really hate about the current system. The pollesters will all be making their decisions based on different criteria. Is the voting for who is perceived as #2 or who you want to see play in the NC? Those could be different votes. What a stupid way to decide this.
That would only prolong the agony of knowing who we are playing.Buckin' A;676872; said:I can't believe this hasn't been said before, but how about a play-off system with the #1 team getting a bye?
OK, let us say that indeed the pollsters are basing their opinions of who is #2 on some sort of flawed internal value system. (Which an entirely reasonable proposition). Have they not been doing that for #1 through #25 all season?buckeyegrad;676860; said:The problem I see with this reasoning is the fact that everything is based upon the opinion of talking-media-heads (and we all remember how smart they are based on last year's hype before the USC-Texas game). As I and several other posters have mentioned, those opinions--even if informed and educated--really have no way of demonstrating Michigan is actually the second best team in the nation (maybe they are, maybe they are not).
Ah yes, the primary flaw argument. It is galling not to see only the Conference Champions gain entry to the BCS Championship game. Or is it?buckeyegrad;676860; said:The voters have the opportunity to correct the primary flaw of the BCS system (i.e. allowing non-conference champions to play in the national title game) and they should do so, especially when Florida with one loss has as much right to the #2 spot as Michigan with their one loss.
For that same reason, I want mich to beat USC/LSU in the rose bowl by 3 touchdowns. After that and a convincing tOSU win in the NC game, there will be no doubt to who's the best.Agreed - if it's Florida, I want OSU to beat them by at least 30, so we don't have to hear what a superior conference the SEC is. Pretty sick of that talk.
That doesn't make sense to me. How is winning with your backup anything but confirmation that you're the best team?Best Buckeye;676900; said:Just to muddy the waters. How would the bcs ,voters and computers handle a situation where say tOSU beats michigan and finishes undeafeted but loses Troy for 6 mos due to injury. How, or why would tOSU be considered the best team yet?
Sorry , I left out some important words (on the last offensive play) corrected now and thanksjwinslow;676902; said:That doesn't make sense to me. How is winning with your backup anything but confirmation that you're the best team?
sandgk;676896; said:Let us say that we have a very slightly different season than our current one. One in which Florida loses to Auburn by oh, 20 points
Demand that only a Conference Champion gain entree to to the Championship game and you can set up a scenario under which a desirable re-match of opponents, from the same conference, is disallowed. Not claiming that this in play fully this year, but, would that not itself be a flaw in your hypothetically improved BCS system?
BuckWrestler141;676909; said:I agree with everything you are saying. I also agree with Kirk; I can't understand calling his logic flawed, by your views if i'm understanding it correctly, we should be playing Boise State in the championship since we can't be sure they arn't better then Michigan or Florida since they have not played each other this season?
