Harvin's good but don't the buckeyes see an experienced Harvin everyday?

Sounds a lot like what the Cryami bunch was saying about Chris Gamble in 2002. Our D may see TG in practice everyday but it doesn't mean they stop him. No defense that just had 39 points hung on them at home has any reason to be cocky.

Folks, Florida is a 12-1 SEC Champion. Forget the nitpicking of how good what teams were or weren't or any of that style point bullshit. You don't get lucky and do that. They are good and they deserve our respect.

I know what we say on the boards has zero impact on the game and I'm quite sure JT and the team will not be taking UF lightly. However I just wanted to say my piece on some parallels I'm seeing to 2002 and not in a good way. I'm confident we can beat UF but lets be real, they could easily upset us.

Not sure how much I want to jump into OSU vs Florida mode prior to hearing it officially, but I completely agree.

Florida has been banged up all season as much as any team you can name. They now have four week to get healthy and a lot of their weaknesses will be addressed. We need to play mistake free, intense football. That said, I think they are the kind of team we match up well with. Limited weapons and not much of a power running game.

But - they got Taz!!!

Bingo.

Do I think Ohio State is better than Florida? You bet. But, like you say, you don't win the SEC in the same way you might win the WAC. Ohio State fans should be the last people to discount ugly wins considering 2002.

IMHO the OSU-FL matchup is based on $$$ and avoiding yet another BCS disaster.
I also believe that scUM is the #2 team in the country, at least I hope so since we only beat them by 3 points at home.

Just to point this out to you. We might feel that UM is the better team of the 2. But Florida won they're conference giving them the right to play in the NC. scUM didn't. I don't think it has much to do with money. Also Florida has played a few tougher teams this year than UM also with a recoed of 12-1 over UM's11-1. Again it has nothing to do with the money for the voters.

Why Florida's loss to Auburn is misleading

First of all, congratulations on getting to the NC game, it should be a great match between our teams. Now, there are lots of arguments about how Michigan deserves to be in the NC game over Florida because they lose by 3 @OSU while UF lost by 10 @Auburn. I'm assuming that many of them never watched the Auburn game, but I watched both, and here are some critical differences:

1) The OSU game's score was misleading. Michigan was down by 10+ for most of the second half, they only scored 7 fairly meaningless points off of a dubious PI call late in the game, making the game appear closer than it actually was.

2) The Auburn game's score was also misleading. Florida was trailing by 1 and had a 3rd and goal at the Auburn 6 yard line, then a terrible call happened. Leak was about to get sacked, so he threw a pass at the feet of TE Tate Casey, #84, to avoid the sack. However, it was ruled that he fumbled, costing UF a game-tying FG attempt and gave AU great field position("fumble" was returned to the AU 40 yd line) to tack on a FG. Here's a great picture of the play:

bilde

As you can clearly see, the ball had already left Leak's hand and was headed toward the feet of #84. How could the replay official miss it? I mean, that's CONCLUSIVE evidence that it was an incompleted pass, not a fumble! This not only cost Florida a chance to score the go-ahead FG, but also basically gave AU a free FG to make their lead 4-points, forcing UF to go for a TD.

Anyway, as time was running out, UF was down by 4 with a few seconds left. So the offense just lateraled the ball around trying to get the TD, but it dropped and some AU player picked it up and returned it for a TD with no time left. The XP wasn't needed so the game ended with UF down by 10.

So basically, a terrible call put UF in a terrible position, and a meaningless TD was tacked on after the clock striked 0:00 to make the score look worse.

Some good things about the BCS this year.

The determination was made by the human voters. The computers, after the high and low were tossed out, gave both Florida and TSUN the exact same score of .940.

Please remember to tell any Vulvarine who bitches about TSUN being denied a rematch because of the BCS computers that they're full of crap (them, not the computers).

Difficult schedules were rewarded. If USC had beaten UCLA, they would have made the title game because of their non-conference schedule of Arkansas/Nebraska/Notre Dame. When they stumbled, the 1-loss team that was selected was the one that played the toughest schedule in the country.

IMO, the BCS process selected the most deserving opponent for tOSU. That's what it's designed to do. But the playoff proponents will continue to whine ad nauseum.

I'm hoping Florida simply for the fact that michigan week is too much anxiety. michigan month would just be too much.

How is everyone going to feel when the put scUM in they title game with us? Rat bastards are going to get a do-over when we never got one before! Fuck michigan!! I want the Gators!

Really. What would a Michigan rematch prove REGARDLESS of who won? They win? So? You think Illinois wouldn't die to give the Buckeyes another 4 quarters like their last two? We win? Been there, done that.

Big 10 vs. SEC. It's been a long time coming.

At this time I would like to thank UCLA for that priceless look on Pete Carol's face at the end of that game. Yo Pete...next time some dimwitted reporter asks you about the National Championship at the end of your SECOND to last game, you do the Jim Tressel thing and correct the reporter, referring him/her to your LAST game of the season.

Your season IS your next game, and your game IS your next play. When you forgot that, Petey, you lost to UCLA.

As a playoff proponent, I actully agree that the BCS worked this year. It also worked for tOSU in 2002. In other years it hasn't worked (letting in teams that didn't win their conference or leaving out deserving undefeated teams like Auburn). I would say it has done its job well about 4 or 5 out of 9 times and that is not a passing grade IMO.

And yet that's offset somewhat by a 1-point road win at Tennesse which really should have been a loss -- Fulmer just happened to win the game of which coach could blow that game the worst. It's certainly possible that Florida can pull off the upset in Glendale, but I disagree with Jax that they could do it "easily".

I know I've gotten to the party late, and there's no one left. But that won't stop me from blasting the music and finishing what's left of the booze, by myself.

The way I see it, there's four possible situations:
1. Ohio State beats Michigan
2. Ohio State beats Florida
3. Michigan beats Ohio State
4. Florida beats Ohio State

The problem with calling the game the "National Championship Game" is that the winner is supposedly national champions. The goal, of course, is for fans around the country to have faith that the winner of that game SHOULD be national champions.

So, looking at each situation individually,
1. Ohio State beats Michigan: You've got all those SEC fans whining that Ohio State didn't play anyone tough. But, being the only team in a BCS conference to finish undefeated, the whining is pretty well ignored.
2. Ohio State beats Florida: SEC fans can no longer whine about Ohio State's schedule. Afterall, they beat SEC's best. But Michigan fans would whine. No one would listen, though, since they already lost to Ohio State.
3. Michigan beats Ohio State: First, SEC fans would whine that they didn't get a chance. Also, much of the rest of the country wouldn't be convinced that Michigan is truly "national champions." The team that they beat for the "National Championship" beat them 51 days earlier. How can national champions lose to the team that they beat? Doesn't make sense to me.
4. Florida beats Ohio State: Ohio State fans can't complain - their team had their shot. Florida fans, of course, can't complain. Only Michigan fans can complain. But, then again, they had their shot at a national championship game.

The way I see it, only scenarios 2 and 4 (both Ohio State vs. Florida) command any kind of faith from national college football fans that the winner is truly the "national champions."
