Florida 49, Georgia 10 (Final)

Deserved it? Probably. Does that mean that they have to do it? No. What do you think Tress would have done if Georgia did that to tOSU?

Let me ask you this: what would Tress have done if the skunkbear's entire team ran into the end zone to celebrate a touchdown??

Like Urban, he'd be taking massive timed release Aricept pills every day to offset even the remoted chance that he might forget...and then he'd kick their ass so hard they would abandon that strategy once and for all.

I'm not sure he would, but if he did.... it would be epic.

Did you even watch the game last year?

Florida didn't take a knee because it could. And Woody went for 2 because he couldn't go for 3.

This is new-age stupid pussy bull[censored] here.

Tressel has laid it on some teams in the past. That said, Urban Meyer isn't Jim Tressel. They are different people.

Calm down, chief.

But you're right. I mean who ever heard of such a thing as not stooping to other people's level. You go out, whoop their ass on the field. Keep a straight face the whole time. Act like you've been there before...like you EXPECT to win. The dancing, the leading "overrated" cheers, Tebow running up and down the sideline all that extracurricular shit...they looked like a bunch of kindergartners that just won their first recreational soccer game or something.

UGA was extremely overrated from day 1, but Florida is very good.

I have no issue with running up the score.
UGA should have sucked it up and stopped them if they didnt want to be embarassed.

yup.

Wow, what a stupid f'n conversation. These two teams are HATED rivals.

Rivalries are where quotes like "Because I couldn't go for 3" come from, where teams come out and try to tear down the other teams banner. Where the two teams on the field do not like each other, the coaches do not like each other, the fans do not like each other.

I see nothing wrong with what Florida did today, sure, they may regret it next year or in the years to come, but it just makes watching the cocktail party that much entertaining each year.

heated rivals or not, you still have to exercise good judgement. today was deserved without a doubt. we are hated rivals with the skunkbears, but we won't run it up on them this year because there is no use in causing trouble for next year. look at what happened the year after "i couldn't go for 3" (this makes a horrible assumption that i don't like to make, but i made it for arguments sake.)

Guys - this was really pretty standard stuff from the UF-UGA rivalry perspective.

In past years you had the Poodles's coach having to be held back from trying to track Spurrier down post-game and punch him. :slappy:

Coach Dooley once (1968) led 41-0 by halftime...yet called time out with second left in the game and let his center (who hadn't kicked since high school) kick a field goal to run it up to 51-0.

When Spur-dog had the one chance to win in Athens in the mid-90s (because the Gator bowl was being moderized to Alltel and we had a rare home and home with the mutts) he tacked on an extra score to hit half-a hundred.

We do this. It is bad form to whine about it. All you can to is try to payback and get scoreboard. I love this rivalry. Vandy I will take a knee for. The butt sniffers? Not so much...

Yeah, that sounds pretty cool to me. As long as it stays clean, who cares?

To answer your question about Tress, i don't think he would do anything to tell you the truth. He would stick to his game and try to beat you the way he always does. Good D and solid special teams.

I seem to recall a story about Woody Hayes going for 2 against Michigan to make the score Buckeyes 50, Wolverines 14. When asked why he did it afterwards Coach said, "Because they wouldn't let me go for three."

I can't stand whining about "running up the score". The game is 60 minutes long, and it is your job to play all the way to the end and protect your dignity. It's not your opponent's job to make sure your precious feelings aren't hurt. If you get your ass kicked, so be it.

when there is a history of it, no one cares. when it comes out of nowhere it will bite you in the ass.

You're right.
If only Woody would've kicked the extra point and won 49-14 we would've beaten scUM the next year, too. :ohwell:
