While I"m in agreement; and I know what its like to be amped up - you also have to use your head because the line between "physical" and serious injury is very thin.

However the blind "Deny, Deny Deny" that has been posted above just takes the [censored]ing cake and runs with it.

Fans. "My guy never did anything wrong." Spikes did. I just hate to see him singled out as it was that type of game all day long. Doesnt make it right, but I have more sympathy for his losing it when they were dishing it out too. More of a "let em play" thing as long as nobody got hurt. The Wisky QB could not talk or breath and had to be replaced. I had not heard that the doggie was injured in any way. If he was, that changes everything for me and my opinion of it - even in this game - would be more severe. If he was not hurt I'd let it go with some steps. Might have hurt his $$ in the draft to come. But if the kid was hurt, then fuck it, suspensions in order no matter how chippy it was.

Again, I agree - but your star Linebacker just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and your fanbase goes all Bill Clinton on us.

SEC should consider suspending Florida's Spikes | Jeff Schultz

Thoughts from the Bulldog (and essentially the SEC) national paper of record.

Money Quote from Richt:
Dogs coach Mark Richt said on his Sunday night conference callthat he hadn?t seen the video: ?I did have someone bring it to my attention that they thought that might have happened or whatever, but I don?t want to make any kind of comment on that particular incident.?[/QUOTE]

Translation: We just got our asses kicked. Let's drop it and move on. I think we'd all be well served in doing the same.

See Reynolds, Robert. And next time get a clue before you proceed making such assumptions. Thanks.
World is not black and white, but gray. Your guy choked him so that he could not call signals and had problems breathing. That had to be addressed as it caused an injury that put him out of the game.

Had the Buckeye choked him and no harm was done and no play missed, are you saying Tress would have suspended him? He very well could have. But I am naive enough to think that different facts might result in a different outcome and different penalty. That is how it works in real life.

So Tress very well may have done that. But your example of Roberts injuring a guy and putting him out of the game and the Spikes deal, where I do not know any injury status to the Georgia player, is not exactly apples to apples.

You are welcome.

I understand being on the losing end, especially with all the "chipyness".

But what type of message does that send to other players in the SEC?
Especially those on the winning team?

Grats on the win BTW Gator.

Perhaps you are correct - but it isn't our battle to fight.

It hasn't even been 48 hours from the incident - let's let the league and the UF Athletic department respond. Message boards and blogs are notorious for exploding before the real sources of influence have their shot.

Gatorcountry has guys going both ways. The usual. Some say it never happened or is inconclusive, some say it was deserved, some say it was understandable given the tone of the game and unfortunate, and some say it was inexcusable no matter the situation. The gamut.

May not exactly be apples to apples, but few things are exact parallels. Let's put it this way--the Spikes incident was a lot closer to the Reynolds incident than it was to anything approaching sportsmanlike, classy behavior.

I find it quite odd that you can't just say that Spikes did something that he shouldn't have and move on. I know that I wouldn't want a representative of OSU doing what Spikes (a UF representative) did to an opponent. I surely wouldn't play the tired cards of, "Everyone does it," and, "You have no idea what goes on in the pile."

As someone here said before, I don't remember many OSU fans making the arguments you're making following the Reynolds incident.
