Since Ealey didn't come away with an injury, only Ealey and Spikes know what actually happened. For all we know, Spikes put his fingers inside Ealey's helmet and said, "Tell your friends that if they rip my helmet off one more time, I'm going to rip your eyes out."

I'd like to think that the SEC wouldn't take any action without facts to back it up, and neither they, nor Mr. SEC, know what actually happened.

I happen to believe that if Spikes WANTED to gouge Ealey's eyes, then Ealey would have no eyes today. Ealey is not blind, and has no eye injury, so any allegations of eye gouging are most likely unfounded.

If there was proof that Spikes actually gouged Ealey's eyes, I'd be first in line to say that a suspension is in order. But since the evidence only points to it being intimidation, not "assault", then it may have just been a missed personal foul call. There were PLENTY of those to go around.
...
You are having a hard time separating fact from conjecture.

The facts:

1) Ealey was on the ground.
2) Spikes fingers were in Ealey's facemask
3) Spikes was moving his hand around in Ealey's facemask.
4) Ealey received no injury or even short-term effects from the incident.

There are no FACTS to CONFIRM that Spikes was actually gouging Ealey's eyes. As mentioned before, it could have been intimidation. Since there are no facts to confirm the allegation of eye gouging, a suspension is NOT in order. A warning is in order, but not a suspension.

If there were FACTS to CONFIRM that Spikes was gouging Ealey's eyes, I'd be calling for Spikes' suspension myself.
Pretty ridiculous discussion all around going on...

If he sits a game I have no problem with it. If it had happened in a game that had not already devolved into a chippy slug fest filled with reprisals I would have more of a problem with it. I saw similar shit going on all game from both sides. That type of game.

Had he just gone off on some Vandy player I would be less understanding. A game sit down is in the cards due to the publicity. That bothers me, as there are about two dozen players who could join him. But it is a good lesson.

I don't condone it. But it was a dirty game on both sides. "chippy", as it were. You may not have heard, but the ref took both Tebow and a mutt aside at halftime and told them to tell both sides to knock it off. Tebow was eye gouged. They brought cheap late backside crap at Spikes all day. Spikes helmet was ripped off and he was head butted by another poodle. All day long it was an ugly dirty war against a team that hates us and we hate them.

[censored] happens. I do not approve of it. , When I played high school ball I was punched in the nuts so I'd let go of a fumble in the bottom of the pile. I was in so much pain I doubled over more and held on to the ball. If you asked Hawk and lil animal what [censored] went down in their chippiest game I bet you would find out that they gave as good as they got in some select games. This is football. There is no place for that type of [censored], but you will never NEVER remove it from football. Feel free to watch the first half of the 2006 BCS game. Your guys were committing personal fouls like mad. I don't recall Tress sitting them down as a punishment. Aggressive violent guys are the ones who start. But they have to be smart with that aggression. I do not know who started what first. Who spit on who the prior play. Who eye gouged the guy's roomate the previous quarter. So I am not going to judge, but Singletary and Butkis and Nitschke and Lewis type guys are prone to do that - and have admitted doing some of that. Butkis bit people in the pile and laughed about it. It is the fans in the stands who are appalled. The ones who play at that level in those games know it is sometimes a part of the deal. When it becomes a war, you do things that you would not normally do. I have no problem with Spikes being disciplinedl. I have a problem with the hypocritical condemnation of Urban Meyer through insinuation and statement that he is a less than ethical coach. But I'll let y'all worry about that while he worries about how to get our 3rd MNC in four years.

Again, I condem what it looks like Spikes was trying to to ( I thought the guy had a face shield on his mask - maybe not). But in that game, with that emotion, the Mutts trying to blow out his knees, etc, I can see how it happened. If you think that no Buckeyes would do that in a game with Penn State when the nits were all in on dirty play, then I think that you are dreaming. And if Lil animal were caught in the same deal, if you think Tress would bench him for it in that situation, I think that you would be dead wrong

Well, I recall a choking incident we had several years ago, and I recall both the response from the coach and the result, and no, you are wrong, not me. Tressel's response to the Reynolds choke was, as I recall rather unequivocal, and went something like: "Robert's conduct was totally unacceptable and has no place in intercollegiate athletics." Seems more along the lines of what I would expect from a coach after such an incident. He also suspended Reynolds for a game and insisted he issue a public apology. Nowhere in there is "it was the heat of the moment in a rivalry game, so shit happens" that I can find, and I don't recall the fan base on this board reacting that way either.

And sure enough, UF will be able to go off on Vandy without him.

Rodriguez is thankful for the film to review beyond the Illinois meltdown.

Kinda like the first sack on Troy where the defender attempts to roll with his ankle... and it wasn't even close to subtle either.
Don't get me wrong, not saying that y'all are a "dirty" team at all, just that stuff happens- to everybody's team no matter how well coached or how ethical the coach - when they are amped up. Sorry I was not clearer.

I have googled it but have not found a quote or response from the poodle involved. Anybody got his version?

Nothing from what I'm hearing.
Georgia Sports Blog mentions it - but doesn't look like they're going to run with it. Georgia Sports Blog: Res Ipsa Loquitur

Nor should they. I'd be happy if the Dawgs quietly put this picture up in the weight room/locker room and let the SEC handle it. You just got your cock punched in - the sooner the issue fades - the sooner the focus can be shifted to where it should be. Overall improvement.

Well, it must be because you are better than us. Who was your rival?

:slappy: Someone is touchy today. Who pissed in your corn flakes?

I was commenting on the response of the coach, nothing more...you know, because I pretty much admitted we also had a guy who did shit like choke a QB and everything. And I used the term "rival" but I guess Wisconsin just more fits the Florida/Georgia example because of the "chippiness" factor you were talking about.

While I"m in agreement; and I know what its like to be amped up - you also have to use your head because the line between "physical" and serious injury is very thin.

However the blind "Deny, Deny Deny" that has been posted above just takes the fucking cake and runs with it.
