Great win and a game in which both teams showed flashes of March potential. The Bucks have some serious things to work on, though:
First, we lost the battle on the boards and kind of badly - 34-25. Sully looked very tentative after he picked up his third foul, and disappeared from the game at that point.
Second, as we already knew, we lack a three point shooter. 4-15 from three is abysmal (5 of 14 against WSU, btw), and there's no real go-to guy who you know will knock down the open shot. The number of attempts is also low; Diebs often took that many by himself.
This game was won with defense and at the free throw line. Ohio State had fewer fouls by four, won the turnover battle (steals also), held Florida to a lower shooting %, and hit just shy of 80% from the line. Those are all signs of a well-coached and experienced team...and a typical Thad Matta team.
Having said that, I feel a lot more confident about the Duke game after tonight. Thad's got a few more games to work out some issues on defense (Thomas), and put in some plays to get Sully open shots behind the arc. :tongue2:
