Free throws are going to kill this team in a game this year. That's the worst part of this game.

Totally agree. I will never understand how guys have made it this far in their careers and are still poor from the foul line. I guess I can understand the big guys who have no stroke whatsoever but these guys really need to concentrate and work more on their free-throw shooting and especially Lighty. Dallas is also a tremendous liability when he is in the game but he needs so much work with his form I have almost given up on him becoming a decent free-throw shooter.

Against our team, who is small, whose primary shot blocker is just a power forward, you gotta attack the inside more. Turner, Lighty and Diebs are all perhaps NBA talent (Diebler for that white guy who gets 4 minutes off the bench to chuck 3s), so having them out there for a whole game is fine. Our conditioning is great. I mean, we had Jamal Butler playing that way the whole season without serious breakdown

Buford is just one step away. He's Pryor on a basketball court. So much upside, but he just is missing one key thing I can't identify to keep him controlled and dropping shots.
I think you might be giving Lighty and JD a little bit too much credit. I do not see either one of these guys playing in the NBA. Maybe over in Europe but not in the NBA.

With regard to the three guys you mentioned playing all 40 minutes, that might be fine for some games but you cannot go through a whole season expecting those guys to give you 40 minutes a game and still have legs when it comes to tournament time. I guess that is why I was advocating for Matta not to play them so much against the lesser competition that we have faced and will face. Once the legs go, the jumpshot soon will follow along with defensive intensity.

I think maybe one of Buford's problems is that sometimes he is a little uncertain about whether he should shoot or not or maybe it's just a temporary slump because he has way too good of form to consistently keep missing open shots. He might also be afraid that when he takes a shot and misses it he might see Simmons at the scorers table the next whistle.

In regards to Buford, that was just a really lengthy team last night. How many pull-up jumpers did FSU get a finger-tip on last night?? That almost never happens to William, but I can think of at least 3 last night off the top of my head.

1-12 is really bad, but obviosuly FSU deserves some credit for taking away William's pull-up game. He no doubt, did miss a lot of wide-open threes, however.

I hope you are correct but my memory serves me right he has not shot well for the past couple games. He was shooting a lot better at the beginning of this season and seems to have gone in a little bit of a drought but hopefully you are right on.

I thought Lighty was almost as bad as Buford last night. He had several opportunities on the perimeter which he passed up to drive inside - only to miss a shot in heavy traffic or turn the ball over.

What is impressive is that we were able to beat a strong FSU team so handily with two offensive weapons.

Agree. For some reason or another Lighty seems to be a little bit out of sorts on the offensive end this season. I think he might be unsure of what he wants to do but that's hard to believe with his basketball knowledge. Hopefully, he can get things worked out because we will need his points.

Agree. I remember a few years back when Foster and Dials were seniors, by the end of the year those guys had lost so much of their legs, especially the shooters like Foster. His percentages really went down by the end of the season because those guys played tenacious defense and played alot of minutes.

Buford and Lighty seem to be very hesitant to pull the trigger...and deservedly so right now since neither are shooting it well. But it's going to be very important to get those two going!

I can see trouble against teams with good big men. We were outplayed in close and in rebounding. At one point FS had 12 more rebounds than we did. Going to a match up zone helped the D but hurt rebounds.
The positive is that we played pretty good and got a good win. I think FS was 6 - 1 and had some good wins and a T win.
We needed a game against some competition and it was.
