2028 FL QB Wonderful Monds IV (Verbal Offer)

Ohio State Buckeyes and Ryan Day hosting potential QB of the future amid spring practice action and recruiting visits

Champ Monds, Elite QB Recruit

First off, Champ Monds is an elite quarterback name. His full given name is Wonderful Monds IV, but he's beginning to just simply go by "Champ" amid his early recruiting process.

Monds is still just a freshman in high school, so he might not be playing college football until 2028, but he's already considered by many to be on the fast track for five star status given his impressive physical traits and wild production last fall.

The high profile blue blood program offers have been coming in fast following Monds' absurdly efficient freshman season where he completed nearly 70% of his passes, tossed 23 passing touchdowns, then ran the ball for over 500 yards and nine scores on the ground.

The Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, and Tennessee Vols have all been gaining some early momentum in his recruitment with recent visits, but now it's Ohio State's turn. The Buckeyes will host Champ Monds on Monday, April 7th according to multiple sources which should help the Buckeyes gain some ground in the early recruiting race for this elite talent.

Ohio State was originally supposed to host only two 7-on-7 tournaments this summer. But the demand from high schools was higher than usual, so the Buckeyes added a third tournament to their slate. The extra camp took place on Monday, with a lighter schedule than usual, as only 16 teams competed in the tournament compared to the usual 32.
Nonetheless, while it was a sparse crowd at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, one prospect in particular stood out: 2028 Florida signal-caller Wonderful “Champ” Monds. Monds had already earned an offer from OSU, but wanted an opportunity to be coached by quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler and Ryan Day. Both Day and Fessler were at Monds’ side throughout most of the day, offering instruction and tips to further his game as he quarterbacked the House team. The velocity and touch on his throws stood out significantly compared to any other prospect in attendance and it was pretty clear why Day and Fessler are bullish on the 6-foot-2, 225-pound underclassman.
“Coach Fessler has done a good job coaching me to help teach me techniques to make my throws more accurate,” Monds said Monday. “Help my feet be more on time with my throws, Really, I’m learning everything on the fly. It’s been a great experience so far.”
Eleven Warriors will have more on Monds’ visit to OSU later this month. But for now, a key takeaway is that the Buckeyes are clearly very high on him early, and their relationship could be worth monitoring going forward.
