Lyons had positive things to say about the Hurricane program and the steps head coach Randy Shannon is taking down in Coral Gables.

?I think it?s a good school with a lot of tradition,? said Lyons. ?I know Coach Shannon is trying to turn the program around.?

The Coral Gables campus is less than a 45-minute drive from Lyons?s home in Ft. Lauderdale, while Sun Life Stadium, home of the Hurricanes during the fall, is less than a 30-minute drive. The proximity of the school and their home field is something Lyons enjoys about Miami.

?It would be great to be able to play right down the street from home. My family would love that idea and I would to so everyone can see me play.?

Lyons likes what he knows of OSU so far & had the chance to meet Tressel at his school a while back... He's interested in making a visit soon but may have to wait to use an OV to see the Bucks... He has offers from coast to coast but he's still waiting on a Florida offer... No leader, plans to take all of his visits before committing...

Lyons was happy to hear from the new ND staff & find they were even more interested in him than the old staff... Has been invited to play in the US Army game & is thinking of committing at the game... Will not be graduating early but he is on pace to be his class valedictorian... He says all schools are even & he's still looking for the right fit...

He liked what Stoops & the other coaches pitched him as far as their DB tradition & how they plan to use him... His Mom is a Florida alum & his sister is currently enrolled so he was a fan of the Gators growing up... He's being recruited for CB & safety but prefers the latter... Asked who beside the big 3 in Florida, who stands out, he says Stanford, Notre Dame, Ohio State, & Nebraska...

Some people are just good at everything they do and others just work really hard at everything. Every now and then you find people that are a combination of both. That?s Wayne Lyons. Typically when you hear about a player that?s such a standout on the field and is such a physical specimen, you have to think well they had to sacrifice something and usually it?s school work. Not this guy! Wayne Lyons will come up on the football field and smack you in the mouth. He can then turn around smack down a 100% on some honors science test as part of a routine that keeps him at a 4.8 GPA. Lyons is a standout safety with offers from all over the country and while I don?t know if he?s the best defensive back in the country, I will bet good money that there?s no other safety in the country with a 4.8 GPA that hits like this. Lyons finds the football and gets there in a hurry. His physical talent (6′0″ 190lbs, 4.5 forty) is not wasted and something tells me waste is not something they are fond of in the Lyon?s household. Per his Mom, Harvard offered Lyons today... Some players from his 7on7 team are going to the OSU Spring game & Lyons will join them... One of the other players is Jeremy Cash... Tressel was at the school last month & they've both been very impressed by him...

Sounds like we have a legitimate shot. Hopefully Cash commits to the good guy soon and he can work on bringing Lyons in to be a part of the 2011 secondary class.

Pure safety... Lyons isn't always the fastest player on the field but he's got enough to do the job... What he does lack he makes up for with great instincts to know the point of attack before the offense can get there... A sure tackler, he's looking to strip the ball on almost every play he's in on... I like this kid a lot... Looks like a high 4 star recruit to me...
