Athens Clarke County police have issued a warrant for Darnell Salomon of Hialeah, Fla. following a break-in at Busbee Hall Saturday night.

According to a police report, Salomon is accused of felony burglary by two female athletes at UGA, who reported that an unknown male entered their suite at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and stole an iPhone5 and a wallet containing two credit cards.

This isn't good:

Warrant issued for five-star WR implicated in UGA dorm theft

Monday it was reported that an unidentified 2016 football recruit was the prime suspect in the burglary of a Georgia dorm. The player, who was staying with a pair of Bulldog football players during a camp, allegedly stole a wallet with cash and a pair of credit cards in it as well as an iPhone 5 out of the room of two female Bulldog athletes.

It was initially reported that the player likely wasn’t facing an arrest or extradition because he was a juvenile from out of state. That turned out to not be the case as multiple media outlets Wednesday reported that Darnell Salomon, the recruit in question, has a warrant out for his arrest in connection to the incident.

Suspect in UGA dorm burglary is a 5-star recruiting prospect

UGA Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 5-star recruiting prospect who was attending Georgia’s Dawg Night camp this past weekend.

Darnell Salomon, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Hollywood, Fla., has been identified as the suspect accused of entering the unlocked suite of two female students in Busbee Hall this past Saturday morning and stealing an iPhone5 and a wallet containing cash and credit cards. His name was listed on the UGA’s daily police activity log Wednesday morning.

Salomon’s coach at Champagnat Catholic School in Hialeah, Fla., said his player is innocent.

“When the facts in the case come out we’re all sure Darnell Salomon will be cleared of all charges,” coach Mike Tunsil told 247Sports.com.

According to an incident report released to the AJC on Monday, UGA Police were dispatched to Rooker Hall in the East Campus Village area of campus in reference to a burglary that occurred in Busbee Hall early Saturday morning. Two female residents who are also UGA athletes reported they were awakened about 7:30 a.m. Saturday to find an unknown black male inside their unlocked residence without permission. After the perpetrator fled, the women discovered they were missing a wallet containing credit cards and an iPhone5 cell phone.

Just sayin': This isn't how Urban Meyer reacts when one of his players gets in trouble with the law. I could be wrong here; but unlike his coach I'm under the assumption that he is probably guilty. Hopefully he is basically a "good kid" that just got mixed up with a "bad crowd". Regardless, in my opinion, he definitely needs an environment where people don't "cover up" or ignore his bad behavior; and that makes him responsible for his actions. Needless to say he has a lot at stake here, including a full ride athletic scholarship and/or his entire football future. This kid has 2 more years of high school. There is plenty of time for him to get it turned around; but he needs to start now. America is a country that will give 2nd chances.

America is also a country that gives 3rd, 4th, and many more chances if you're good enough at sports. Even if he's guilty, I can almost guarantee that he'd still get a full ride to a major university of hes talented enough. DGB just got to go to Oklahoma to play for the Sooners after multiple arrests for marijuana and throwing a woman down a flight of stairs. Willie williams was given numerous chances at D1 schools after having an arrest record in HS, and even after his stunt which got him arrested for his visit to UF. I can find numerous more exAmples if given the chance. This will be swept under the rug soon enough, heck I wouldn't be surprised if UGA still kept his offer and welcomed him back in the future once the dust settles. CFB is all about big business, as much as the NFL, don't get it twisted. Wins and losses mean more than criminal records.

All valid points. Another example that hits "closer to home" is Maurice Clarett. Back in 2003 when he was suspended by Ohio State there was some speculation that he might transfer to Grambling after their head coach Doug Williams made these comments:

"We could use him," Williams said. Williams said Monday he hasn't spoken with Clarett's adviser Jim Brown, Clarett or Clarett's mother about a possible transfer. But if Clarett did want to discuss transferring to the legendary I-AA program, Williams said, "I would take his call. I think it would be a smart move to take his call. A lot of people would like to have Maurice Clarett," Williams said. "I don't think a headache comes with the kid. He didn't shoot nobody. They didn't arrest him for drugs. He didn't rape nobody. Ain't no problem with the kid."

However, like what eventually happened to Clarett, it is impossible to be given a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chance to play football when you are in prison.

Apparently Clarett did finally got his life turned around and is now a motivational speaker to try to keep kids (like Darnell Salomon here) from making the same mistakes that he made, etc.

No one certainly can't play football from jail. But Darnell is a minor, and a minor who happens to be very good at football. I don't see him doing any type of jail time. Jayru Campbell body slammed a security at his HS... On VIDEO, and he didn't serve any jail time and will still get an opportunity top play college football on scholarship. Clarett is a little different since of his age, and circumstances, but like you stated, even he was given another opportunity to play at another school. Talent trumps a crime, if the kid doesn't have to go to jail, works like that at every level, HS, college and NFL(NFL players have killed civilians and still stayed in the NFl)
