You kids stay off my lawn!
Just finished the paper, have my cup of Joe sitting right by the computer, decided to kick the day off by firing up "Across the Field." God, how I love that song... and that's just the reason I thought I'd throw this out there. We're lucky to have TWO Great fight songs, three if you count Sloopy. But that also means split loyalties. I love Across the Field, so much that I want it played when they take my casket out the great doors at Belarmine Chapel. (No I'm not going to be buried in an OSU casket. That's for Tennessee fans.)

That being said, I can certainly see why other folks would chose Battlecry cause there's nothing else in college football like the moment the drummers come down the ramp at the Horseshoe (Hope you're reading this High and Lonesome) and start that cadence.

Or late in the fourth quarter, Bucks hanging on to a lead, and it's 4th and two for the bad guys and Sloopy rings out. You're dead if you can't get juiced by that.

So, of the three, what's your favorite?

"You might also want to add "Le Regiment" (aka the Script Ohio song) to your informal poll." MolGen

Ok, I just did. But I'm not adding "I wanna Go Back" or We Don't Give a Damn for the Whole State of Michigan, though nothing in life is much sweeter than singing that outside the Outhouse after a Buckeye win.<!-- / message -->

I'd have to say Across the Field as well. Like probably over half the board, it is my cell phone ringer. Except when my wife calls - I have that ringer set to the theme music from "Psycho". Anyways, I hate you very much for putting that song in my head with no way to enjoy it for another 79 days.

I'm partial to Buckeye Battle Cry.

Marching into the stadium on Saturday morning to that cadence, coming out of the tunnel and seeing 90,000+ scarlet-clad fans, and hearing the roar build as the intro finishes and the band starts down the field? Yeah, that does just fine for me.

It's also what the band plays after scores, which is always a nice association.

You might also want to add "Le Regiment" (aka the Script Ohio song) to your informal poll.

Since when did Tennessee fans get buried in OSU caskets?

Here's 10 good college fight songs. Click on the link to listen to them.

10. Washington & Lee: Washington & Lee Swing
9. Auburn: War Eagle
8. Michigan: The Victors
7. Michigan State: Falcone Fight.
6. Georgia Tech: Rambling Wreck
5. Army: On Brave Old Army Team
4. Navy: Anchors Aweigh
3. Southern California: Fight On!
2. Notre Dame: Notre Dame Victory March
1. Ohio State: Across the Field

"On Wisconsin" is also a great college fight song (IIRC, John Phillip Souza called it the best college fight song).

I had heard that he said the Michigan fight song was the best. I think I heard it right before they let Desmond Howard sing it from on top of the Horseshoe.

I gotta go with Le Regiment.
Second, I'd go with Carmen Ohio. I know it isn't a fight song. Feel free to cast away my #2 vote.
But of the original three that you named, I'd go with "Across the Field."
