Game Thread Fiesta Bowl 2016 - tOSU vs Notre Dame, Friday 1/1 @ 1pET, ESPN

4 conferences, each with 2 divisions, hence 8 division winners.

The CCGs are round one of the playoffs. The 4 conference champs meet in round two. Then the two winners meet in the NCG. That's the only reasonable way to to it.
I don't disagree with that. But I'd assume blowing up the B12 (which is what you would need for your scenario) is more difficult than getting an 8 team playoff without blowing them up. Also, if you have a situation where there are 2 deserving teams in one derivation and no deserving team in the other division, and the non deserving team won, how would that play out? For example, imagine if Iowa was actually 9-3 and beat msu. Not having a team like osu have a chance at a playoff (which they wouldn't in your scenario) doesn't fix the solution.

I question whether this bowl matchup was by design of the committee knowing they would draw a much larger ratings for a OSU vs ND as opposed to Iowa vs ND. That said, I was a bit dissapointed when this news broke just because there isn't much tof gain by beating this ND team. Oh well.

I think ND is a good and dangerous team, but their secondary is hurt and I see Barrett opening up the field for some big pass plays. Zeke also goes off with 200+ yards.

I am going to have to call Bull[Mark May] on those stats.

As we all know, you absolutely cannot give Fat Charlie 6 weeks to prepare an offense. There is no way his offense could be stopped, NO WAY. I think you must have gotten the stats backwards? Charlie was the greatest offensive mind to ever coach a football team anywhere anytime.
To be fair to Micheline Man, his offense did move the ball on what was one of the better defensive line ups in Buckeye history. He got rid of the 7 step drop in the second half which is why Brady Quinn is still alive today.

I look at it this way: you pry open the oyster and there sits Stanford. Tasty, but there's something missing. You shuck open another Oyster. There sits the oyster and a pearl - Notre Dame. Tasty and so deeply satisfying.
