Game Thread Fiesta Bowl 2016 - tOSU vs Notre Dame, Friday 1/1 @ 1pET, ESPN

No....unless you are constantly looking for something to freak out about that is...
I don't think you have to look all that far. Two starting tackles not playing. Wilson not playing. Two guys in car wrecks, which isnt all that crazy considering the time of year but one is the starting RB/Bell cow and had other elements added to it. Numerous articles from current and former players about the focus on this game and the upcoming pro declarations. Focus on a coaching blunder and being in a bowl game most of them didnt think they'd be in...... I'd say thats pretty much a mess without having to "look for much to freak out about".

Kids being kids and all that but, damn.

Yeah....and?

one of the starting tackles is injured - that shit happens. The other has been a known issue.

The other stuff is typical downtime filler noise that happens EVERY year except last year and I think most of that was due to the team being so young (hence few NFL declarations) and because after the Wisconsin game, Ohio State was playing with house money win or lose against Alabama....

Freak out if you want. Just don't get pissed when people don't because it's not that big of a deal.

I saw CC this morning on Mike and Mike. He says that he has serious questions about where the heads of this OSU team are. He noted that there has not been a lot of calm around the program since they walked off the field after beating Oregon. Would Cardale stay or go? Once he decided to stay, what would happen with JT and Braxton? The 3 headed QB monster dominated the summer. Then 4 prominent players are suspended for the opener. Then offensive deficiencies became the storyline, mostly surrounding QB play and getting the ball to all of the playmakers in proper proportion - which led to OSU falling from unanimous #1 to a suspect team. Then JT gets stupid and gets suspended just as they seemed to be figuring it out. They coasted because their schedule let them, but there was this belief that when they played someone good, they could flip a switch and look like a #1 team. Sparty destroyed that theory, and then there was public dissension in the ranks following. Then they looked like a #1 against scUM, but it was a week late. Then AW gets tempted to pay for some strange, and now EE has driving issues. Then add in the fact that this OSU has more juniors than normal, and some prominent seniors, who have the draft and the millions that are coming their way in a few months, and we have a pretty good recipe for a dud performance. CC makes a pretty good case.

Two things make me think I won't be regretting my trip west. One is the opponent. If you can't get focused and motivated to play that school, something is wrong with you in general. The second is Urban Meyer. I'm trusting that he has pushed the right buttons and has their heads right to play one more game. We'll see Friday.

Having lived there for almost a decade before coming back to Ohio this year, I would think you'll not regret your trip either way. Beautiful area this time of year and should have fun. Buckeyes crushing ND is just the cherry on top!

Bowls have always been exhibition games. That was never a reason to not show up and play well.

Hopefully, our team understands that even if it escapes some fans.
I think there is something to an exhibition game meaning less when the entire season you expected to be in the playoffs and then at the 11th hour (or close to it) that is ripped away from you. If they were 10-2, and didn't have the aspirations they had this year and didn't lose out on the playoffs late in the year, there would be zero issues about it "just being an exhibition he game." But looking at the factors behind a team in a bowl game and there is something there for it being "just an exhibition game." many people give teams like Alabama shit for underperforming in a bowl game after being left out of the National championship after being in it before a late loss. I never felt that way.
