Felonious Breastfeeding (Drunk Thread Martyr?)

Offended is one thing.

But should it be a felony?

I'm offended by parents who let their kids sit around and play video games... that's probably not good for them either...

At any rate, no one is arguing that the things that you mention here are "bad" I don't think... but... do we need laws for it?

What if you give them high cholesterol snacks when they are 5?

I wasn't advocating that there needs to be a law about it, there already is, if it is considered child abuse. Child abuse is already against the law. It's definitions change often and from state to state.
But it's not a new law by any means.
Perhaps a new application to it at best.

And while pregnant I would agree it is child abuse, and while breastfeeding, without the precautions taken above as discussed it would still be child abuse.

Being drunk enough off your ass to start a fight with a cop with a child latched to your tit sucking milk deserves felony child abuse in my opinion.

Ummmmm, I've fed dramamine to my kid just to knock them out on long drives. I know that my wife drank some wine so the freeken little critter would sleep thru the night.

So I think you know where I stand on this issue.

There are medications designed for doing just those things. If you can't afford em and do it "jerry rigged" in your house, or whatever, I am not faulting anyone for that. I am not a black and white person. Don't drink at all when you are pregnant would be preferable, one glass of wine a night would be acceptable. Getting drunk is unacceptable at either time not only due to the feeding issue but frankly, drunk with kids in your care is just inviting trouble.

But there are lines that should and should not be crossed. The subject of this thread deserved the felony abuse call.

Oh wait, I think I have some of those things that keep kids quiet...

I don't have a problem with throwing the book at that particular chick either...FWIW.

I think my question centers more around where Big Brother starts and stops.

Beat your kid- Child Abuse

Poison your kid- Child Abuse

Breastfeed your kid hammered?-- Child abuse?

Drink a glass of wine while Prego? Well, we got the drunk chick.

Give the kid a twinkie? Well, the drunk chick was feeding her bad stuff.

Already illegal in some places to smoke in the car with them.

On the other hand, in Ohio it's legal to feed your own kid alcohol... so, is breastfeeding not okay, but, if you give the kid Stroh's in the formula okay?

Somewhat off topic, but...

Was over at Put-In-Bay for bachelor party last weekend and on our way back my group was sitting by a drunk stripper who kept complaining about lactating without being pregnant. We said it wasn't possible, so she pulled her boobs out and started squirting milk into her mouth and up into the air.

needless to say it was quite a show...
