FB Branden Joe (official thread)

why the hell do you bring politics into this? it has nothing to do with the "liberal" media.
To answer the bold poster who dinged me with this without signing it...

Sure it does. Think back, where did this shitstorm all start? The New York Post. Is that liberal enough for ya?

Granted, espn got in on it after moc jumped into bed with them, but don't think for a minute that they (or their "journalists") weren't creaming their jeans when they found another way to trash Tressel and OSU, following his success. Do you think that they would have made such a big deal about a story that praised JT's success, they way he coaches the team, and his solid conservative beliefs? Not a chance. But, give them a shot at tearing someone like that down and they'll jump on it every time.

Pardon the politics on the football board, but the liberal media can't stand it when a good, solid, conservative guy like Tressel gets successful and gains some national noteriety

The paranoia is hilarious

DEB just revealed his utter ignorance as not knowing the difference between the NY Times and the NY POST.

its because clarett dropped the story in their laps. had clarett gone to any other school, then pulled his shit and run to espin, they would be the team under the scope and we would all be here chastising that school.

i highly doubt the espin heads sat around trying to think up ways to destroy OSU. the "story" came up and bit them on the ass.

that's just ridiculous BN27. We all KNOW that the media has been out to get OSU for years and years and will stop at nothing to bring us down. Or so the majority of internet posters told me... :roll1:

I stand corrected. Sorry that I mistakenly typed the wrong name. I assume that you never make mistakes- it must be tough being perfect with all of us DUMBuckeyes around, huh?

DE may have got the name of the NY paper wrong, but he is right on the substance. There is an East-coast media elite in America and they do disdain the traditional values emboddied by the likes of Jim Tressel.

Consider the ESPN crew. Their employer is in Bristol, Connecticut. It employs them to crack wise about sports and act as cynically hip as they possibly can, paying them small fortunes in salary each year. They therefore qualify as 1) East coast, 2) media and 3) elites. They live in places like Darien CT and Westchester County, amid multi-million dollar homes, and take their wives to dinner at midtown Manhattan restaurants that charge for a meal what many Ohioans earn in a week. They travel around the country first-class, to cover major sports events, live in first-class hotels and eat and drink at only the trendiest places, all on ESPN expense accounts. They have about as much in common with the average middle-American as Usama bin Laden.

When they encounter true integrity, they don't recognize it because it is so alien to their life experience. When they see honor, they can't believe it and pull out a magnifying glass to find the fraud. When they find a hero bigger and more admired than themselves, they strive to tear him down.

In Psychology 101 there is a term for this behavior called 'projection'. We ascribe to other people the character flaws we loathe in ourselves. If I know that I lie and am ashamed of it, I convince myself that my competitors are liars too, because it lessens my own guilt. If I cheat, I assume my opponents cheat. We mentally 'project' our own foibles onto others we envy.

So when Trev and Mark get all indignant about JT and tOSU, you can guess they've got a little larceny in their own cold hearts. When some sport columnist at the New York Times calls for Andy Geiger's resignation, you have to figure that he knows he'll never accomplish anything in sports to compare with Geiger's accomplishments, so he strives to tear him down.

The guys at ESPN who are now drowning in fame and fat salaries, know deep down that they are not really worthy of their success. They know that they are benefiting from a perverse, media-dominated culture that pays sportscasters 20 times what it pays its school teachers, 15 times what it pays its cancer researchers, 40 times what it pays its soldiers. They know that under any morally just system they wouldn't be living the lives they live. So, because they fear themselves to be frauds, they look for fraud in others -- to assuage their guilt and relieve their envy of those who've actually earned their success through hard work and adherence to the traditional moral values that they disdain.

They're pathetic and will eventually get theirs. Whether you believe in karma, a heavenly afterlife or just the laws of gravity, these snide, undeserving, little vermin will get what's coming to them. Just wait. And remember, revenge is a dish best served cold.

Branden Joe on SIX

Watched Branden Co Host on the post game on channel six and he was outstanding.

He was very imformataitve and seemed comfortable in front of the camera...he gave good insight into present freshmen players he played against last year.

Do you remember in particular who stood out to him. Always nice to know who former players think are impressive to them.

I didn't catch much, mostly because I can't stand Clay Hall and change the channel as soon as he comes on. I did hear Joe mention though that Andy Groom called him this afternoon crying. Joe said he immediately felt bad until Andy started laughing and said he made the Redskins final roster today.

Back again

Branden Joe worked out for scouts for the second straight year. The fullback from Westerville was a senior last spring. He went undrafted and was briefly in the Seattle Seahawks’ preseason camp before suffering a knee injury and getting released.

He said he ran in the low 4.5-second range yesterday.
"I hope to spark the eye of at least one team," Joe said. "All it takes is one and get an opportunity to get into camp and try to make the team."
