Favorite play of 2005 season.

Great thread topic rght here.

Two plays stand out to me this season:

-Arguably the biggest play in the Big Ten this year was the blocked FG and TD return at the end of the first half of the Michigan State game. That play propelled us to overcome the Penn State loss, get back in the game, beat up Drew Stanton, win the football game, and go on a big 6-game win streak that resulted in us sharing the Big Ten title and beat LLLLoyd...again. On the flip side, Michigan State, 4-1 at the time, never recovered, losing 5 of their last 6 to miss a bowl game.

-However my favorite play was probably Pittman's 67-yard burst against Minnesota. That play was also bubbling with significance: it blew the game open, helped the defense out in probably their only subpar game this season, and for Pittman, it was his first TD, a career day for yardage, he upstaged Maroney, the supposed Heisman candidate and self-proclaimed best back in the Big Ten, and it led to Pittman really dominating for the last several games of the season, when we really needed him, as he helped key the resurgence of the moribund offense to make us arguably the most explosive non-Rose Bowl team at the end of the year.

I really hated the 33-7 loss to Iowa last year, so the best play this year has to be Tate getting tackled by Carp, standing up and spiking the ball. The only way it could've been better is if he'd been given the 15yd unsportsman-like penalty instead of the 5yd delay of game.

Now, that was probably the most satisfying play, but I'll select another more positive play to be nice:
100yd kickoff return for TD by Ted Ginn vs Minnesota.

For me, the resurgence in the running game was very special this year. The final score at TSUN by Pittman, in which Stan White puts in such a good block and then Pittman bounces to the outside was great but it was an earlier play that told me Pittman had come of age.

So, I choose the 16 yard TD run against Illinois. When Antonio lowered that shoulder and knocked the defender on his rear, Woody shined bright in the othe world!

Gotta be The Catch...

I also liked The Spike by the TATEr tot; but I'm biased toward that one because I saw it in person.

Pittman's run at MinneHaHa was good too.

A play that brought tears to my eyes was AJ's TD on Senior Day. Especially poignant for me, as I was there for Spiels' Sr. Day; and was cheering the whole time for him to score a TD in the 'Shoe, which he'd never done. Instead, he was on the field when Iowa scored a last second miracle TD to beat us on #36's Sr. Day. AJ's TD scratched a very deep itch. (For that matter, so did The Spike)

I have 2 favorite Buckeye plays from the year. Of course Gonzo's catch against scUM. But also Holmes td against Texas. I called the play before it happened. I eldowed my friend in the stands and said "Holmes hass single coverage go for the TD" They did and the Shoe errupted. Just wish the game turned out as well as that play.

My favorite non-Buckeye play of the year was Tyrone Prothro's TD catch over the defenders head. He basically caught the ball and the defender's head. One of the best plays I have seen in a LONG time.
