Favorite Place to get a Burger?

There are no known awesome burgers near me, which is terrible because my stomach ulcer is better now (stupid ibuprofen) and I want maybe five or six of 'em right now right now right now. Snow better melt; I may need to road trip.

So I've been thinking about this thread. LJB's suggestion of the best burger in the city intrigues me. Haven't tried it yet, but one will make the trip to the West side sometime this year. But I wonder what else is the best in the city. Does Pistacia Vera have the best baked goods (disclaimer: my sister-in-law is a chef there) as Zagat claims? Is Jeni's the best ice cream (that one is probably pretty safe)? Who serves the best pizza; Harvest, Yellow Brick, someone else? Favorite bars? Haven't been to one since the 90s, but Vincent worked at Mouton and then Latitude 41 and his friend Cris Dehlavi (at M now, I believe) is considered by many the best (or one of the best) mixologists in the city. Best food truck? Best piece of pie (Sassafras?), best dairy (Snowville?), best ... whatever?

I wonder if this is enough of an area of interest for folks that a subforum (as much as I'm trying to be rid of subforums and make the site flatter) that would allow for "Best of" threads. Could have prefixes for Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Out-of-State, etc. as desired.

Anyway, just a stray thought. Best burger drew 15 pages of responses, but maybe that's more or less a full examination of the issue and "best X" threads could just continue to live in open discussion. Let me know if you wander past this post and have an opinion.

(as much as I'm trying to be rid of subforums and make the site flatter)

Not to go off subject, but this is the best forum I know of. And that's not only because it is dedicated to Ohio State sports (although, that is a big part of it), but when I go to places like BWI or the Michigan Scout forum, it looks too jumbled up and unorganized. You see threads about missing airplanes right next to threads about Recruit X visiting this weekend. Some thread titles lead off with "OT", which I always thought meant "off-topic", but that seems out of place, because there is no topic on those forums. And I typically see as many as 5-6 threads about the same stupid topic. But, I guess that a flatter site can still be cleaned up by merging threads.

Anyway, I vote for a more three-dimensional site. It makes things easier for me. But I'm just some peon; if you have a reason to flatten it, you won't get rid of me that easily. Just my half-cent.

Oh when I say "flatten" I mean I'm trying to limit instances where forums could be more than two levels deep. A "Best Of" forum would be subordinate to Open Discussion and wouldn't threaten that at all.

I value compartmentalization, the question here is whether or not there's enough potential discussion to warrant a sub forum.

Appreciate the feedback!

Jo has to run all the way out to Easton today. I may have to have her bring back a Wollensky's Butcher Burger.

Unfortunately, Meacham is no longer at Bodega, and the Bombay burger is a thing of the past there. I'm told he's doing amazing things up at a place in Powell, but that's outside of a reasonable travel radius for food (which has to come to me).

So, yeah... Split a Wollensky's Butcher Burger with Jo. Even after traveling from Easton to Galloway, it was ridiculously good. Exceptionally tender meat, very well seasoned -- has less going on in terms of toppings than the aforementioned Bombay, but the meat is the star. Great bun. Even at medium (I prefer somewhere between med-rare and black&blue) it was juicy.

Good call, @LordJeffBuck. Were the Bombay still around I'd have called that 1b to this 1a (or the other way around), but Bodega didn't want to be a restaurant and the Bombay is a delicious matter of history. If there's a better burger in CBus than this S&W's Butcher, I'd love to hear about it.

In New Mexico, the former operators of the famous "Bobcat Bite", now have their own place in downtown Santa Fe, and I can attest to the fantastic 10oz burgers available. They still grind their own and it shows in a burger that is steak like and hard to pass for other menu options. Unless you can get a burger(12oz!!!!) from "Sir Scott's Oasis" in Montana(http://www.oasissteakhouse.com/), it would be hard to find better.

http://www.santafebite.com/ A MUST for the burger lover!

Lancaster is getting a Five Guys, and they're building it on 33 adjacent to my property line, which pretty much means there is going to be a Five Guys in my backyard.
