I have my suspicions.

if we was moving at the time, his seatbelt would be only one of the many things to worry about.

like me turning around completely to take a photo with my cell phone, in a spot with cars everywhere (including one directly behind me facing the exact opposite direction) and someone in the background with a fully opened umbrella hanging out of an open door on a truck inches away from a head on collision with an SUV.

but this is south Louisiana, so yes all of the above are entirely possibly scenarios on our highways.

my son and his medal from the State All Star tournament. his team finished 4th over all in Louisiana. highest finish for a team from our parish in almost 20 years.

Nice job to your boy! I love how beat up he is, like nobody can question he gave it his all. Also, the fact he is smiling but everything looks slightly tired (as he/it should). This photo says a lot about your boy. Lay it all out on the field. Congrats, dad!

one thing I've always admired about this kid is his grit and determination.
he's a really good ball player (played travel ball above his age group, made AllStars in his Cal Ripken league), but he's rarely the most talented kid on the field, and typically one of the smaller ones.

but he works a lot at his game even on his own time away from practice. soaks up any bit of coaching that you give him. and on game day will do anything and everything it takes to win. including recklessly giving up his own body if necessary.

he scored his team's last run in the game that eliminated them. passed ball and he got a great jump and came home. him, the ball, and the pitcher covering the plate all got there at the same time. toss was slightly up the line leading the pitcher (a noticeably bigger kid than him) toward 3rd and right through my boy. son definitely took the worst end of that collision. sent his helmet flying off and everything.

kid never even hesitated going into that wreck. and immediately jumped up signaling "safe"! then sprinting to his teammates that met him right outside their dugout.

he didn't care for even a second that he was about to get blown up. he needed to cross that plate and was going to do it no matter what it cost him.
